Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 99 C2 Manual. Last week, I noticed the interior lights stopped working. When the door opens or when I try to switch the lights on, it will not turn on (all 3 of them). Then, I noticed that the power locks do not work. If i turn the key to lock the driver side door, only that door will lock. The passenger side door remains unlocked. I also cannot open the hood (the latch will not press down - as it does when the doors are locked). The defroter switch and the door lock switch do not work at all. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? The first thing I did was check the fuse box by the drivers side seat. All of the fuses seem fine. Has anyone experienced somehting like this? I dont know if this is related at all, but my alarm system hasn't been working for about a year. The button on the keys does not activate/deactivate it. I usually turn the keys twice to activate the alarm. Not sure if this is related at all, since it has always been this way.

POST 2Original post

I would first check the relays for the interior accessories that are not working. If not done already, try replacing the battery in the remote.

POST 3Original post

Do they work on and off, or do they just don't work all the time? Do the radio, AC, etc., work.....maybe works on and off? Could be the ignition switch?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 6703122

They just don't work at all. It just stopped working all of a sudden, Radio and A/C works fine. Although the radio does get glitchy sometimes (but never stops working) How can I check the ignition switch?

POST 5Original post

Quotes source post: 6705800

The ignition switch is a common issue, can cause "weird" unexplained electrical problems, at random, and they can come and go, eventually dead. Another sure sign/symptom is the key not being smooth in and out the ignition switch hole, gets more and more sticky, and eventually, gets stuck. If that is the problem, you can get a replacement switch for $20-$30 and DIY. Or, you could replace the whole ignition switch/lock part for over $100. It's an easy and quick DIY, but needs some contortionist skills!

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I read up on ignition switch issues, and it is deffinitely not that. Where can I find the relay switches?

POST 8Original post

Are the fuses ok? Funny nobody mentions, but that would be the first place I would check.

POST 9Original post

Did you or anyone do a ny recent work on the car?

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Fuses are th first thing I checked. No work has been done on the car recently. Clutch/flywheel/RMS was changed 3 months ago. Does anyone know where I can find the relay switches?

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

bump. any more insight? or anyone know where I can find/check the relay switches?

POST 13Original post

Had the same issue this morning. It was the 15amp fuse. As a temporary fix, I swapped the cigarette fuse in D5 with the door/window fuse in c3 (also 15amp).

POST 14Original post

auto-xr should be a good help with looking at the C3 fuse. Figuring out the right fuse is a problem. Trouble shooting is often the main problem. There is also a chance those devises uses a common ground and the ground wire disconnected which would mimic the same as a fuse problem. No ground-no power flow just like no fuse.

POST 15Original post

Hi all! I have the same problem on carrera 2, '98. Could anyone can help with solution for this problem?

POST 16Original post

Quotes source post: 19042894

Your best bet would be to investigate termX relay. The relay panel is located above main fuse panel left of pedal cluster. You will need to remove screw, un-clip and lower panel. TermX relay is top most to the left. Swap relay with known working one.

POST 17Original post

Adna did you ever find the relay for the power door lock, defrost and interior light ? have 99 cab with same problem being both power lock and defrost buttons not working at all.
