The place I use, Schmit Proto, for my UAOS Accumlators takes so long to produce a batch (and expensive), but not many places can do Carbon Fiber Filled Nylon 3d printing.

Unfortunately that is about an $80 part and every time I check with the recyclers they dont have that piece.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm new to 3D printing and design so I'm using Tinkercad which is very limited. Anyway, I designed a replacement cap for the hardtop mounting points. If you have a cab, you've probably lost one or two of these and they cost around $20 plus shipping to replace this little nothing of a plastic piece. My design isn't perfect but it fits and the differences won't be very noticeable. I printed it in red PLA+ because that's what I have at the moment, but this should be printed in black ABS. It replaces Porsche part number 996-555-457-00. https://www.thingiverse.com/download:8029799

Nice !! 3d printing is evolving very fast and is producing amazing things.I can see where having a desktop 3d printer and some basic skillz would be very handy. The place I use, Schmit Proto, for my UAOS Accumlators takes so long to produce a batch (and expensive), but not many places can do Carbon Fiber Filled Nylon 3d printing. or have the necessary printing equipment to produce them. I wish I could find more options.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I bought the printer about two months ago with no real plans other than to learn something new. I jumped in with both feet to print medical face shields for a nursing home and a local hospital. This was the first non-medical related thing I've printed. I needed a break but will go back to printing masks and shields tomorrow.

POST 4Original post

That looks good. The original design of the roll bar cover is made to lose the caps and the oval covers. Ive replaced all of mine, but still missing the front latch cover (windshield header). Unfortunately that is about an $80 part and every time I check with the recyclers they dont have that piece. Daryll

POST 5Original post

I need a front latch cover too - is you are thinking of what to print next.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'll see what I can do, but the shape of the front cover might be too complex for the design software I'm using. I do need to learn Fusion 360 but it's a steep learning curve.

POST 7Original post

I just learned my library has a 3D printer. I need these little caps and remmeber this post from when I looked a few years ago. However, the design seems to be gone. Does anyone know of a similar one? These caps are like $50 a piece now!!!! EDIT: I was able to find it, here is updated link: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4299067

POST 8Original post

Just printed these in black PETG and they look and work great. Thanks @wyovino !!

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Old thread, but someone just contacted me to print two caps for them. I'm only charging him for the postage. Out of curiosity, I Googled the part number and they're now going for $73 each plus tax and shipping. Amazing. Just a couple of cents worth of plastic.
