When the car went in at JZM for service i asked them put a new one on, but they said there was no need and just used a bit of silicone to re-stick the rubber down where it was lifting slightly.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all I have a 99 cab 00 with the hardtop on currently. As mentioned in my previous post its been great so far, except for: 1. the boot mechanism failing to shut (now works) and 2. At motorway speeds I can hear a whistling noise coming from the offside. I thought it could be the aerodynamics over the hardtop causing the noise. Its not really loud but noticable. Anyone experienced this or have any ideas? Thanks Jonny

POST 2Original post

have you operated the wipers when the whistling is occuring?

POST 3Original post

I have a whistling window seal on my vcar, suspect its dried out with age, it only starts whistling at 110+ mph see my post on this how old is your car? http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=39504&highlight=whistling

POST 4Original post

sorry just seen you say its a 99, its not unreasonable to think the rubber has perished after 10 years nearly window alignment is another one Edward

POST 5Original post

Had this on my Honda S2000, told girlfriend to keep her legs together and problem solved!! :floor: Only kidding... try silicone on the header rail

POST 6Original post

:floor: Had a similar problem on my MY98 C2 at motorway speeds. Turned out it was the rubber surround on the front windscreen. Bit of adhesive at the base of the A-pillars to stick them back down did the job. Taran :bandit:

POST 7Original post

This is very interesting Taran, I hadnt considered this. My surround is not quite as tight in a place or two as it was when mint...! hmm, could be this How did you work that out btw? Edward

POST 8Original post

Lol, was a mix of 'process of elimination' and some wise heads on 911uk! I thoughy it was the rubber mouldings on the wing mirrors at first (visible when you open the door). So i gaffer taped these taped these up, but no joy. Then one of the guys suggested new rubber for the screen. I had a look at mine and realised the rubber would lift when i pulled it up right at the base of the A-pillar. When the car went in at JZM for service i asked them put a new one on, but they said there was no need and just used a bit of silicone to re-stick the rubber down where it was lifting slightly. Job done, no complaints..nice and cheap too! Taran :thumb:

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

POST 10Original post
