Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

over 110mph (on a private road of course - caveat) my drivers window seal whistles like a mad man! most frustrating, i wonder if its dried out with age? Are these easy to replace, cheap, and is it a DIY job? the other option i suppose is that it could be the wind going over the mirror, but im not convinced of this, the other side doesnt seem to do it Cheers Edward

POST 2Original post

mine does the same [also 1998] put it down to the rubber around the windows becoming hard over time. Gave them a dose of autoglym rubber restorer and this helped but did not get rid of all the noise, think they probably need replacing TB

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think your right, will need replacing. Has anyone done this on this forum, is it easy, or a garage job? Edward

POST 4Original post

the other problem you may encounter even if putting a new seal on the car and you still have slight noise is that the windows are adjustable , as in it can be moved in or out and side to side so its seated right when closed.. may just be an adjustment required.

POST 5Original post

I had that with my '98 C2. The rubber trim becomes loose and lifts in the wind. Porsche do a foam rubber cord which you tuck under the trim, and it stops it from moving around. There is a TSB which shows the fix. If you would like details, drom me a PM with your email address.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

There is another solution/problem it could be, revealed here: http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?p=433296#433296 this concerns the windscreen seal, mine is peeling slightly at the top by the drivers side, I will try this first with silicone Edward
