Posting this so everyone can have a laugh.
Bought my first
Porsche
Boxster S
), been having a blast, have put 4,000 miles on it learning, etc. all on back, country roads. All in normal mode.
Been intending to use Sports Mode but frankly I kind of thought I was taking the roads about as fast as one could or that I wanted. Stupid newbie.
Took it to the Texas Hill Country this weekend which is as good as it gets. Rode those roads many times over the years on my Harley but just taking it easy, seeing the sights; have driven them many times to go camping, hunting or fishing.
Good gosh was it crazy fun in my
Boxster
.
Made what many think is the premier drive called the Twisted Sisters in my normal mode. At the end I again thought I hammered those roads, took them about as fast as my car could. Probably true…in normal mode.
On the return trip I put it into Sports Mode for the first time. OMG, man was I clueless. Crazy about how much faster I could take those turns and on the straight aways it was hard to keep it in double digits. I knew the speed would be amped up, had no idea about the suspension.
I am like a teenager who thought he was doing pretty good but just discovered intercourse.
That's funny!
I reside in the D/FW area and have given thought to making the drive down just to run that stretch of road.
There are other roads out there in addition to the Twisted Sisters that are just as fun, a couple arguably better. Well worth the drive.
The elevation changes can be dramatic as well. Two spots in particular as you are going up you know that once you crest the hill the road is breaking left or right, just not sure which, which gets exciting at speed.
One spot I pulled over at a picnic table and was having a sandwich looking directly at the top of one drop off.
Several Porsches as part of a a rally come by and as they go over the hill in front of me most of them were hitting their brakes at the top of the hill. As I learned shortly when you crest that hill it is a very long, very steep drop so they were hitting their brakes to downshift, presumably, so they were not testing those 172 mph limits by the end of the drop.
Tragic sign right across from the picnic table I was sitting at.
We visited Fredericksburg, Luckenbach, and Enchanted Rock a few years ago, in a different vehicle.
Thank you for the information.
Dang! You don't see those signs every day.
Now you need to do a track day, if you have Sport+ it is great fun as well
