Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

All I did was fluids, shift cables, new AOS, and cleaned the intakes.
Leading evidence: 'Clean intakes' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check on this' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I think as a general statement, a PPI of any used car purchase is money well spent.

Suggestion
I would strongly recommend having a PPI and bore-scoping to ensure that this is not present already.

Suggestion
These cars, if taken care of reasonably, will run for a VERY long time.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I’m looking at buying my first Porsche, a 987.2 Cayman S. the seller has sent through all the paperwork and everything checks out, but I’m concerned about the high mileage.
Is this overpriced for the spec and mileage?
Any tips or thoughts would be much
I can’t post the link as this is my first post.
I don't see how many miles are on it?
I can't speak to the pricing, as it's out of the USA. Different market means different pricing... but take a look at other similar vehicles to compare. Straight conversion to USD means it's about $24k. That seems pretty reasonable to me, given that it's an S and has a good deal of work done for preventative maintenance.
About 3 years ago, I bought my non-S (same year, no PDK, much less recorded maintenance) for about $24k... which is why I think this is a decent price.
I chose NOT to get an S because of the bore-scoring threat. I would strongly recommend having a PPI and bore-scoping to ensure that this is not present already.
92000 - km, I assume? That's about 57k miles... that's not a big deal.
I bought mine with 70-something kmiles on it... and I love it. It has over 105k miles now, and runs great. These cars, if taken care of reasonably, will run for a VERY long time. One member here has 250k+ miles on his (equivalent to 400k km). The mileage doesn't concern me at all... but it's still important to check out the PPI and bores.
Also remember, the 987.2 S has a DFI engine, so it may need more care on the intake side, as carbon buildup happens on most DFI motors. I didn't see if that was mentioned specifically, but something to be aware of. Yet another reason I chose the base model instead (non-DFI).
If it helps I bought my 987.2 S at 135K mi. No issues. All I did was fluids, shift cables, new AOS, and cleaned the intakes. I think mine was mostly highway miles at the engine hours was around 3100.
That car has the most aggressive preventive maintenance history I have seen, which shoiuld off set any high mileage risk to me. I have not heard of any significant bore scoring issues with the .2 S. That was one of the big points of the new engine design and my very high end specialist tells me they have not seen it as an issue with these, and that DFI carbon deposits are a much lower frequency rhan many other dfi cars so far. Note that carbon is not a killer issue, just a maintenance cost, and here that would be pffset by the preventive maintenance costs already paid for that you will be saved.
I wouldn't have any issues buying this car. It's been maintained, and it appears all the time/mile wear issues have been addressed. My WAG - it will be quite inexpensive to put another 100k on it.
I agree it is a good looking candidate. One negotiating point may be the upcoming need for a headliner replacement, which is pretty common on Cayman's I believe. It looks as if this one is starting to go ove both headrests, but may just be picture. Also, remember that when you sell, you will also be faced with a reluctant market due to miles, so all the discount you can get today is good.
You don't "need" a borescope check, but I would do it regardless if I was buying it.
Still, like others said as well, this looks like a great deal overall... that's why I'm wondering why it's being sold... and that's why I'd do the borescope and any other checks, just in case. But that's just me.
Borescore in the case of this car is a "low odds/high consequences" situation. I think as a general statement, a PPI of any used car purchase is money well spent. If it seems like the car for you, give them a deposit and ask to get a PPI performed by a shop you pick and that you will pay for. Peace of mind is important.
Food for thought in my article linked below. You might split the difference and just look through the spark plug hole for Cylinder #6 (typically the first to score). If you don't see anything, you'll probably be good for many tens of thousands of km's.
Bore Score Inspection Through the Sump for a PPI – Is It Practical?
OK, so it’s a bad weather day, like everywhere in the US right now, so let’s have a little discussion about bore score inspections “thru the sump”. Nothing definitive here, …
