Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Logic dictates that the front hubs need to be changed (to turbo hubs) to take the new discs, will have to do more digging.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys, I'm looking to upgrade the front brakes, would like bigger discs up front, guessing new calipers would be required as well, what are my options? Thanks.

POST 2Original post

Depends upon what you have got. If a normal 996 the next step is the 330mm turbo brakes with new calipers. If you have a turbo or 4S then the only way upwards while remaining OEM is the GT2/GT3 350mm 6 piston setup which is both very expensive and massive overkill unless you have done the suspension and are looking toward heavy track use.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Disco, thank you greatly for your reply. This is a standard 996 C2 (2000 model). Turbo brakes would be ideal. What would fitting entail? Thanks.

POST 4Original post

That sadly is the point where I have to turn and point to your nearest Porsche independent as I don't know anything about the caliper installation - only that they can be made to fit. There is every chance that someone on here has done it though, or failing that RennTech.org is a great place to get technical info on porkers (very US centric when I used to read it, but lots of very knowledgeable modification fiends on there).

Hi Colin, Thanks for your reply. Fully understood and taken on board. Logic dictates that the front hubs need to be changed (to turbo hubs) to take the new discs, will have to do more digging. Thanks, will keep this thread updated.
