Now this probably should have been the first thing I tried, as it is a lot easier than changing the ignition switch, but you live and learn.
Leading evidence: 'Replace ignition switch' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install ignition switch' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 1 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. I installed the new ignition switch which was relatively easy and, despite my confidence, this did not fix the issue.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello all
I'm basing the country and I drove my C2 down to Adelaide, which is about 2 hours from my house, to my son's house. I parked on the street and then he told me to park in his carport. I went back to the car and started it and, lost it did start, I noticed it was a little bit sluggish.
A couple hours later I went to drive home and my car wouldn't turn over. Full lights on the dash, showing roughly 13 volts on the vault gauge, and we even put a jump pack on the battery to make sure it had full charge.
I am now home in the country and my car is still in the city. I'm trying to figure out what is the likely cause of the issue, and my current thinking is ignition switch. My question Is will this be the likely cause or is there something more likely? I realise it could be a number of things but I'm trying to get all my ducks on the same page as far as sourcing potential parts, and allocating time to get the job fixed. If it's the ignition switch then it's a job that I would likely do myself in his garage but, if not, I would tow it to the local garage.
Thanks for any advice.
All dash lights on but no crank at all, no clicks. I've never had to push the clutch in on my car to start it so I don't think it is the clutch switch. I have noticed that my key is a bit sticky and sometimes when I go to turn it on to the second position it cranks over the car because the detent seems to not work properly.
I believe that you found the cause. The ignition switch does not look good. Very cheap part to purchase as Audi part. When purchasing a new one, take the part number from the old one as a reference (there is another almost same kind ignition switch that has a slightly different end that goes in to the mechanical connection of the locking mechanism).
Thanks for your help guys. I rang the local Audi dealer and they can supply from Germany for AUD$230. Porsche dealer told me it is superceded to the full casting barrel etc and would cost AUD$700. I have found a cheap aftermarket for $50 and I'll order the genuine part from Audi, which will take around 5 weeks. I knew the ignition wasn't right - I should have replaced it when I had the chance!
Yep these cars are like a Boyfriend or Girlfriend relation ship , occasionally you better pay attention to stay out of trouble..
Glad you found the issue..
UPDATE:
I installed the new ignition switch which was relatively easy and, despite my confidence, this did not fix the issue. I told the local Porsche Indy and after spending 20 minutes looking for a possible cause, they asked me to have it towed to their shop.
However before going home with my tower between my legs, I tried swapping the engine compartment by a fan relay with the starter motor relay, and the car fired up. Now this probably should have been the first thing I tried, as it is a lot easier than changing the ignition switch, but you live and learn.
Not my photos.
You'll need to undo a couple of nuts that hold this shelf down.
Here is the relay bank on the underside of the shelf.
Swap the "Start/Lock" with "Eng Comp Fan to test.
So the correct term is "tail between my legs", but I like your version better as it could be implied to have the opposite meaning of being embarrassed.
