Suggestion

You don't have to check at 1am, just go through the procedure to set the time, and when you get to the hour digit, cycle through the numbers and you will see that once you go from '11' to '12' to '1' that the indicator you highlighted in your image will change from AM (Dot above) and PM (dot below).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Any ideas what that means? I can't recall seeing it in the Owners Manual..

POST 2Original post

My guess is it is to differentiate between AM & PM. There looks like a similar sized and shaped digital element, (for lack of the proper term for the display) above the illuminated one, just to the right of the ‘4’.

POST 3Original post

Excellent! I'll have to check this.. unfortunately - it's PM again. I'll try to slip out to the garage around 1AM to check....

POST 4Original post

It is the AM/PM indicator. You don't have to check at 1am, just go through the procedure to set the time, and when you get to the hour digit, cycle through the numbers and you will see that once you go from '11' to '12' to '1' that the indicator you highlighted in your image will change from AM (Dot above) and PM (dot below).

POST 5Original post

When setting the clock, IIRC you press and hold the adjustment stalk for a second or two until the hour display flashes. Then twist the stalk clockwise to advance, or counterclockwise to go back, one click at a time to advance/reverse one hour at a time, or hold to advance rapidly. Once you reach the desired hour, press the stalk again to choose minutes, and use the same procedure to set the minutes. And if I guessed correctly, as the hours advance, the little indicator to the right of the numeric display will toggle up/down to indicate AM/PM. 🤞

POST 6Original post

To follow up to the above: Got in the Boxster and decided to try out my previous suggestion and found that to be the case as noted. AM & PM indicators do toggle upon every 12 hour advance while setting.

POST 8Original post

thanks guys! I learnt something new about my car today.... I think I never noticed it because I use the 24 hr clock mode.
