After not being able to find a decent set of .2 used mufflers at a reasonable price to use as a return core to Fister, I ended up ordering a set of CARGRAPHIC valved mufflers and their valve control system.

I bought a pair of used OEM's (.1) and cut them open to gut them, welded back up and they sound perfect!

if I didnt, I would 100% recommend the new exhaust from Meisterwerks Racing.

What diameter pipe did they use for the connection?

But since Im having to buy mufflers, looking at Topgears valved exhaust which would be similar $ as sourcing used oem and sending to fister.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My newly acquired 02 C2 has a muffler delete which while it sounds nice is a bit over the top for me. If I had a set of mufflers, Fister would be the route I would take. But since Im having to buy mufflers, looking at Topgears valved exhaust which would be similar $ as sourcing used oem and sending to fister. My question is are there any aftermarket new mufflers that come with fister style mod already done? Searching all the different exhaust companies is making my head spin. Open to other suggestions for similar exhaust note too.
I have the Top Gear valved exhaust with the valve hard wired open all the time. It sounds pretty good, no drone, not crazy loud. Just a data point in case you go the Top Gear route. I'm currently shopping for 200 cell cats.
[QUOTE=Paul Waterloo;20470323]Why not just find some good used OEM mufflers and get a fister mod if you want. They are plentiful on marketplace.[/QUOTE
I think Id have as much $ invested at that point as valved exhaust which at that point just makes more sense to have the option to close the valve and quiet it down when desired.
Be weary for buying from Top Gear. Their customer service is literally non-existent. Ive emailed them about 5 times since November about my x-pipe I got from them. Nothing ever, ive tried their contact form on the website, tried emailing, etc.
I have the LN/FLat6 x-pipe with cat, and stock mufflers with the valves like the Factory Porsche/PSE exhaust welded, Love the sound with or without the valves open, their cross-pipe cat setup is a piece of table art,, awesome welding and assembly.
2nd this, I had a problem with something I bought from them and they were unresponsive. Would not buy from them again.
I've been happy with Milltek mufflers for around 8 or 9 years now.
Imho, if you are not looking for weight savings and want better sound at a reasonable cost, a used set of factory mufflers on ebay with a Gundo hack is the way to go. You dont have alot of sound at low RPM. But it sounds very good at high RPM.
If you want to spend a couple bucks more, then send the mufflers to Fister.
But if you want to save weight, and want durability, then you gotta buy a good set of aftermarket mufflers. But it will cost you. Then its gonna come down to your sound preference.
There are plenty of you tube videos on muffler sounds, Fister and Gundo hacks.
I bought a pair of used OEM's (.1) and cut them open to gut them, welded back up and they sound perfect! Thats the way I would recommend going! I've done it for several folks here in Houston and they all love the sound of thier cars!
I have been trying to find out if factory PSE can actually be added to my .2 Turbo.
A lot of conflicting information out there.
I too want a valved exhaust. Dont need the noise in my hood or my town with a 20mph speed limit. Ha
if I didnt, I would 100% recommend the new exhaust from Meisterwerks Racing. Search this forum. I have heard it in person and it is amazing.
I reached out to them recommending they make a valved version as it would sell well IMHO.
I just did the Fister mod on may 2000 996. I had a local welder do the job for $275 and then painted them with FHT Flame Proof. Came out great and sounds wonderful.
After not being able to find a decent set of .2 used mufflers at a reasonable price to use as a return core to Fister, I ended up ordering a set of CARGRAPHIC valved mufflers and their valve control system. Couldn’t find a lot of information about them, but what I did find seemed like it fit what I was looking for. Thanks for all the input!

That looks awesome. What diameter pipe did they use for the connection? Also any sound clips? I have been debating between Gundo or genuine Fister or just a local exhaust guy doing the Fister style. I don't want to change the interior level of sound significantly just add a little more to the car when pushing on it.
Same cat cores same performance expectations of high flow cats on the M96/97 platform, 10-15whp/tq. The difference comes down to charactere/tone expectations, which we made a video explaining if you'd like to take a browse.
