You can end up with something like 150kgs of lift at 150mph, which isn't good news if you have to change lane quickly...

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
39 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

This vehicle looks the absolute bollox (Guards red with original black Fuchs alloys). XXXXing quick as well as being an absolute minter.
What would you regard as the best looking car of all time then?

Guys sorry to go off thread.
>> Edited by Dazren on Saturday 5th October 22:59
Mine's an '87 3.3 Turbo.
Come on Lambo - if you're going to slag off sb's flatnose (great looking cars IMO) at least tell us what you drive, or aspire to ??? I'm guessing the clue is in the name but enlighten us anyway.
You've probably never seen one in the 'flesh'lambo!
>> Edited by sb930turbo on Sunday 6th October 08:19
Massive asumption, I would'nt comment on something I had'nt seen in the flesh, I'm gald for all that find the car atractive, I truely am, but I don't simple as that, I think the copys they made of the car actualy typify the car much better, looks cheap and nasty to me, just my opinion though, there are thousands that love it no doubt!
Yes, the clue is in the title.
Sean
Well I think its a great looking car anyway, and so do most who have been in it/seen it.
I certainly have never thought of it as cheap & nasty?!
Don't know how anyone could think that with the level of build and interior trim quality that is on a car of such vintage!

Steve's flatnose is a nice car, but not for all tastes, admittedly.
Cosmetically speaking it is guilty of simply, and understandably, being one of the ultimate automotive manifestations of the 1980's.
If Tubbs had a car to go alongside Crockett's white Testarossa, it would definitely be a 911 Flatnose Turbo.
But to dislike its looks would be similar to disliking a blower Bentley for being 'too 1930s'. Acceptable, but right at the subjective end of the opinion scale.
Cheers

Thanks for that shaft of wit Dom!
I am touching wood at the moment, they seem to be working fine now.It was to do with the adjuster rods that are operated by individual motors seizing up with old age!
Camtune assure me that they will be fine now?!
Steve
I like the smooth sloping roofline of a standard 911. Unfortunately a lot of the 80's 911's seem to have massive rubber spoilers, which look a bit naff like 'cossie man's sierra of that era IMO. Ditch the bolt on's and keep it pure.
The spoilers are partly what make them so iconic. Without them, they could be from any of the previous few decades really - In silhouette anyway. I don't have a great preference for either way, but as the one that came along at the right time for me had one, that's what I have got, and I like it.
Horses for courses job again, I guess.
I know what you're saying, a plain early 911 is one of the all-time beautiful shapes, and does look great unadorned, but when I started looking seriously at cars to buy it was always the turbo's with their fat arches and big spoilers that made me go weak at the knees. Then one afternoon a Guards Red 930 overtook me at speed on the M40 and the view of that fat bespoilered rear disappearing into the distance left me with no choice, I new what I had to do!

Mine's an '84 Carrera Targa Sport ...

...and will up for sale in the next week or two! ...anyone?
just had approx. £8k engine rebuilding done by Paragon.

YUK! don't like the Boxter at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!
...sorry to all those who have a boxter, but as they say...the 911 is the real Porsche!!!!!!!
...but on a more serious note, the older cars have much more character and soul! ...more loveable!
>> Edited by 911Targa on Monday 7th October 22:34
So what do you drive then pitgirl? anyway, the 911 will be making way for a 355 GTS soon I hope
.. still love the 911 though ...wish I could have both!
I have a sexy little MX5 which will be replaced by a new Boxster next month. I love how fast it goes, I bet I could beat your old 911. I've seen a lot of racing drivers and I think I could probably start better than you.
There's nothing quite like a challenge :-) I'm sure I'd have fun trying to beat you ;-)
...name the circuit then! :-)
Boxter or Boxter S?
Tomorrow at dawn? :-)
...lots of smiles!
You have high speed stability problems if you remove spoilers form 911s designed to have them. You can end up with something like 150kgs of lift at 150mph, which isn't good news if you have to change lane quickly...
Following on from this general spoilers on and off issue, just a word of warning.
If you put on a rear spoiler make sure you fit the corresponding front spoiler.

My mate bought an 89 Carerra, and its had a few problems, as I mentioned in another thread, (Fuel leaking at present,) but the SC has, (touch wood) been no bother at all for the last year, best thing I ever bought, just wish i'd done it years ago, but like most people looked at porsche, and thought too much/high insurance/high bills.
