I wonder if the brake system for
Boxster S
(987) and
Cayman
Sare the same?
Also I want to make my
Cayman S
exhaust
sound sportier, I am planning to change a sport
exhaust
, may I know if you have any suggestion, thanks!
Chris, I am thinking of getting after marketexhaust too. But I will wait till I hear the factory
exhaust
and factory sports
exhaust
before I decide. Are you hoping to get more power or just doing it for sound? I wonder if Tubi will have something for the
Cayman
? Do you have Tubi on your Gallardo?
Goodquestion about the brakes. Concerning the
exhaust
, I like the
Fabspeed
system designed for the Boxter S. Perhaps it will work on the
Cayman
. Check out the video at

I'll wait to hear the stock
exhaust
also. I have seen so many people that have put the factory or aftermarket sport
exhaust
on.......only to take it off a month later........and I have also seen many that like them. I love to hear both the
exhaust
and the mechanical engine noises......some exhausts cover the latter up.
I believe the brakes are straight
Boxster S
.......there could be a very minor change here or there, but they pretty much are stock
Boxster S
........and thats just fine with me.
Atlas,
You make a GREAT point about the
exhaust
. All too often I hear cars with so much bloody
exhaust
sound that you cannot hear any of the engines mechanical tones. There is certainly a fine line there, I wouldn't want to give any of those sounds away to a overbearing
exhaust
system.
I think it would have to be pretty nice sounding and offer some HP for me to consider changing from the stock system.

The enclosed hatchback may make some engine, intake, and
exhaust
noises louder. Especially with the engine right behind the seats.
The first thing my salesman told me after returning from test driving the
Cayman
in Atlanta was.......
'The soundsaretruly amazing!'

I read many mag said that the
Cayman S
exhaust
is very quiet so just want to get something loud, my 996TT stockexhaustwas very quiet too.
I have Larini on my G-car and it sound really great, at 7,000rpm you will feel like earth quark.

The standard
Cayman S
brakes are the same 'Big Reds'as those on the
Boxster S
. They are exceptional brakes & will be fine for all but the most hard core track useage. Indeed, I'venever had any problems w/the regular old black brakes on my 993 (
911
) for DE track duty.
The new Excellence (Dec '05) is quite positive about the US
Cayman
's
exhaust
sound. Probably wise to wait & give it a listen.
