Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have these “artifacts” on my speedometer. Is there a solution besides buying a new gauge from the dealer? Tia!

POST 2Original post

I believe they sell replacement lcd screens; you would have to remove and disassemble the gauge cluster to get to the screen. Here is an option on Ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/32651548319...BoCIcIQAvD_BwE

POST 3Original post

Had your car been exposed to extreme cold? This happened to my car when it was parked outside at a dealer for several days in way below freezing temps. It recovered very slowly over a period of several months, but did totally heal itself. Weird. I've noticed since then that when it gets close to freezing, it will get a tiny bit "grainy" looking, with near-microscopic little dots of light , but I've never let it get cold enough again to have the "bugs" come back. If your car is in extreme cold for the winter you could avoid further damage and accelerate the healing process by bringing the instrument cluster into your house.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the replies! I’m sure it was exposed to cold as the previous owner lives/works at Los Alamos National Laboratory in the mountains. Thanks for the eBay idea. After checking eBay, I ran across this how-to video: this how-to video. I will wait for the warm summer weather to see if it goes away before attempting the DIY repair!

POST 5Original post

I had the same issue on my 2000 Carrera. I didn't have the confidence to try the repair myself so removed the instrument cluster and sent to Best Pixel Repair in North Carolina. They got it back to me in about a week later and worked perfectly.
