Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 2Original post

Three things spring to mind: Coolant cap - check that the part number does not end in 00. If it does, change it for the latest cap. 04, I believe. Coolant tank - prone to cracks and pinholes. Check the engine bay (and floor) underneath the tank - is it damp? Front radiators - any drips from the region of the underside of the front PU?

POST 5Original post

It could be that it's only leaking fluid when it's pressurised and it's leaking through a hairline crack. When you remove the cap you de-pressurise the system so it stops leaking - or so it seems! I've heard that these tanks do have a tendency to crack in this way. They're very exposed to high temperatures and pressures and some of the plastics that they used to use sometimes crack. As Richard says, it could just be the cap - so check that first. That'll be a far cheaper job!![ ] Adrian.
