This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

DOes anyone with a cabriolet who has a hard top find that it sqeaks over bumps!!!! I cant stand it... any soloution anyone??????????

POST 2Original post

Apparently greasing the lugs that go into the holes helps although I've never tried it. I think a lot of the noise can come from the soft top that's stowed away so I'm going to grease all the joints up this year on both the hood and the hardtop to see if that solves the problem.

POST 3Original post

Yes, they can squeak from time to time........have got used to it TBH......the colder weather seems to make them squeak a little more - mine is not too bad anyway.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I used to have an SL55 that did the same. I used a special silicone dry spray that stopped the noise, temporarily. I will try that ....

POST 5Original post

I'm afraid that's just one of the compromises of a cabriolet... A simple experiment: Get a shoe box, take the lid off and then try and twist the box - it's easy! Now put the lid on and try and twist it - not so easy

POST 6Original post

My Honda S2000 used to annoy me but I fixed that so it was as quiet as a mouse. Try putting soft plastic over the locator pins (the pins that go into the sockets at either side of the header rail) the best stuff to use is the plastic used to make widscreen washer piping. Then apply Vasaline liberally along any join area, all across the header rail rubbers etc and wipe off all the excess. Get this right and it will do the job perfect.
