Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This is probably a stupid question.....But My 04 boxster S has a hook on the door to hang the tether on. My 1999 996 does not. Does everyone just let it hang against the paint?

POST 2Original post

Mine is disconnected altogether. I hold it with my butt cheeks until the tank is full.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 20482423

Nice. Don't forget it and sit down

POST 4Original post

Quotes source post: 20482419

The inside of your 996 fuel door has a piece of sheet metal with a small notch, onto which you hang the fuel cap strap. You do not need to use your butt cheeks.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 20482440

no not on a 1999.i even checked a local shop that has a 99 boxster. Same no hook

POST 6Original post

Cut the cord and use your butt. (I actually just rest mine on the windshield wiper wet side up).

POST 7Original post

Quotes source post: 20482443

OK...Mine is a 996.2. Add the notch to another difference between the 996.1 and the 996.2. Science moves ever onward.

POST 8Original post

Have a 996.2 Turbo. I just let mine hang. The tether is long enough that it dangles in the wheel well. Doesnt touch the paint at all.

POST 9Original post

My cord broke a while ago. I use the windshield method as above.

POST 10Original post

Quotes source post: 20482463

My 2001 C2 996.1 has the cap hanger. I use it all the time. Replaced the cap and the new tether had to be modified slightly to fit back in.
