Suspected cause
It’s beautiful country, but it’s probably a difficult place to find a Porsche wrench close by.
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
TBH, what I'd want to do is to hook the car up to a PIWIS (the computer that P-car mechanics use at the dealer), which would give you more specific code information and for the car's computer to survey your car -- and inventory of what may be missing from your system (or may be disconnected).
Leading evidence: 'difficult place' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'difficult place' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect )' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Your own PIWIS is going to be expensive, perhaps an independent shop can provide you the pertinent information, then you can use the savings to remedy the issues.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

All good now- minus a pesky washer fluid leak that'll be addressed as soon as temps rise above freezing.
Hello all. New to the Porsche scene and find myself struggling with limited resources but willing to learn.
I seem to be missing a few key components in the engine bay related to emissions. I'm fine with this except I've accepted the challenge of getting a passing NY inspection on this track weapon.
It's clear the smog pump has been jettisoned and blockoff plates installed. That much I got, along with p0421 / p0431 CEL.
However I don't know what's missing from the other end of this connector. Said connector is located just above the driver side cylinder bank - if that helps.
Again, goal is to get a pretty little sticker from my inspection station so willing to do whatever is involved.
Appreciate any assistance.
Kevin in NY
Hey Kevin - Welcome to P9! Make sure you introduce yourself (ideally with photos of your ride) over in the New Members section. Kind of a strong tradition here. Where in NY are you?
As someone who's no stranger to wrenching with limited resources, I'd like to think that you've come to the right place. TBH, what I'd want to do is to hook the car up to a PIWIS (the computer that P-car mechanics use at the dealer), which would give you more specific code information and for the car's computer to survey your car -- and inventory of what may be missing from your system (or may be disconnected). That would be the fastest way to definitively figure out what's wrong. There may be less involved ways, but that might be the most definitive way.
Again, welcome to P9 and I hope you get this sorted soon.
Appreciate the warm welcome, Foodbiker. I'm in Goshen NY. This Piwis is new to me. I'll Google it and see how to get such a thing. There is definitely a secondary air injector pump missing over the passenger cylinder bank but I'll continue to hunt down what this mystery plug is for. If I can't find a tuner to address the CELs I'll source and reinstall some factory pumps and such to make it whole again. Shame - I don't want to lose this Motorsport AOS that's currently installed but it appears it won't fit if the secondary pump is in place.
Your own PIWIS is going to be expensive, perhaps an independent shop can provide you the pertinent information, then you can use the savings to remedy the issues. Motorsport AOS is crazy expensive but I wouldn’t let salvaging that be a factor in the process of a proper remedy. I have an idea of where you are because I have a good friend that lives in Milton, I don’t think you’re too far from there. It’s beautiful country, but it’s probably a difficult place to find a Porsche wrench close by. Welcome to P9.
Much appreciated, Boris. Coming from the 2-wheeled track world where I was fairly self sufficient there's a definite step back as far as resources and knowledge with this Porsche thing but that's part of the charm and intrigue for me.
Looking forward to absorbing all I can.
Kevin
I was into bikes too, then I almost died when a pregnant lady blew a stop sign to make a left into traffic which was no bueno for me. Porsche is the 4 wheel motorcycle with air bags and a top, I think you will love it. If you head west seeking help avoid Cantech. PS What are we doing up? 😂

You're in good hands here. Lots of threads here about the PIWIS. If you're handy and are likely going to keep the car for a good long time, I say it's a really good investment for about $400. To me, it has paid for itself -- as it cuts through the baloney of not being quite sure what is wrong or missing with a given P-car. A PIWIS is like of a QuickJack; I'm not sure how I lived without it. It may seem expensive for an occasional use and has a learning curve, but the high cost spreads out over time. Just my two cents.
If you're short on time and just want to get this rolling, I agree with
@Boristhespyder
- maybe just have a dedicated mechanic do a scan / take a look -- and be done with it. Surely there are P-car wrenches across the river in Westchester? (Goshen - Way cool. Growing up, my pop used to work across the Bear Mountain Bridge in Peekskill.)
One other thing that you could do -- especially if you have more time than money -- is to just create a virtual machine and set up the PIWIS software (no hardware necessary) alone -- all of which is free. Why? Well, it also comes with superb wiring diagram software (clunky but it's as detailed as one can get) and it might help you troubleshoot where exactly that plug is coming from/to. TBH, that's what I'd do as a start -- assuming you're comfortable with reading wiring diagrams, etc. Meanwhile, you can play around with the PIWIS in demo mode without spending a dime. YMMV.
Appreciate the info. I'll have ro Google what a virtual machine is and where to get PIWIS.
In the meantime, getting a proper tune for the equipment on and not on the car.
The best motorsport on the planet! And the sportsmanship and mutual respect among the fiercest of competitors is something that other sports and competitors should aspire to (I'm thinking of the rampant egos in F1 particularly).
Reporting back with results;
Was able to get a tune that addressed the 2 CEL culprits.
Appreciate the info above.
All good now- minus a pesky washer fluid leak that'll be addressed as soon as temps rise above freezing. Then the dash will be unencumbered by any warning lights!
