Anyhow, after a thousand bucks later, it's all good (costs also included draining the brake fluid and replacing some pads).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Dear enthusiats, Just an update to the stiffenning of the brakes on my 99 boxster. Turns out that water had entered into the master cylinder via the booster. Also found that water had initially collected in an area under the bonnet as the drains were clogged with dried leaves which eventually made its way into the booster and cylinder. Anyhow, after a thousand bucks later, it's all good (costs also included draining the brake fluid and replacing some pads).

POST 2Original post

Good reminder for all of us to replace the fluid every coupla years! DOT 3 and 4 brake fluid is hydroscopic by nature.

POST 3Original post

FYI: the word is hygroscopic, it seems like it would be "hydro" but alas it is not so.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
