Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've just changed the mounts on my 964, so about a decade older than your car, and with a couple of days of soaking the nuts came off easily.
Leading evidence: 'Replace mounts' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace engine mounts' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Used a breaker bar with 2 foot length of scaffold tube slipped over the end I keep for occasions like this.

So I decided to man-up and use the "peace-maker scaffold tube on the breaker bar trick".

It looks like they had to use heat to get the nuts off so the old mounts are literally toast but you can see how distended they were - look like originals with a "02" manufacturers stamp cast into them.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

In theory (and after watching a good few Youtube vids) this should be a 30 minute job.
I have done quite a bit of mechanical stuff in the past but my god the main nuts on the underside of the car will not budge. Tried breaker bar and impact wrench - any other ideas apart from giving up and passing the problem to the garage.
cheers, Ray
The threads and nut you are trying to turn are constantly exposed to the elements. Hit them with a penetration oil and let it sit overnight.
Is any of it moving? If the nut is well and truly seized you might be lucky and get the threaded part to come out of the mount. Just don't undo the top bolts as you want the mount sitting in the square locating holes on the carrier to stop it turning.
Your best bet is to use a heavy duty impact wrench or a long enough breaker bar ...if you snap the thread it's no big deal
Good luck
On both mine the threaded part came out of the mount. Used a breaker bar with 2 foot length of scaffold tube slipped over the end I keep for occasions like this.
Good recommendation above on penetrating oil. I've just changed the mounts on my 964, so about a decade older than your car, and with a couple of days of soaking the nuts came off easily.
Not relevant to this post but the mounts that I put into my 964 had a 996 part number and previously had a part number for the 993 C4. Significantly cheaper than OE 964 mounts and apparently somewhere between OE and RS mounts in terms of stiffness. Several posts on them across the various Porsche forums.
I've done this job on two cars, one with a load of rusty nuts and both times they came apart fine, all be it with a surprising level of force needed.
I think the location benefits from engine heat.
Ideally you need a really long extension bar and a deep 6 sided 18mm socket
**update but no solution** Changing engine mounts
So I decided to man-up and use the "peace-maker scaffold tube on the breaker bar trick".
This worked i.e. the whole bolt and stud and rubber is turning, however, it still wont come out. I assume the stud is corroded and has joined itself to the rubber so I cant get any of it out.
The rubber itself is very distended by maybe 30/40mm.
Kind of stuck now and I cant really drive it anywhere.
It looks like if you were able to destroy the rubber it would allow the stud to fall down and out but you cant realistically get a pad saw in there.
Any other ideas

Can't really understand this as there is a square section on the bit the stud comes out of, this engages in the chassis to stop it turning? Have you jacked your engine up too much and this is now out of the hole in the chassis? may be worth dropping your engine slightly see if it will drop back in the hole
Grind off or split the nut - no turning required.
I did mine recently, one came off as expected but the other unscrewed the whole stud from the aluminium part of the mount.
Ok, so gave up in the end. The excellent 9excellence managed to squeeze me in to their busy schedule and took the problem off my hands.
1.5hrs later all done and on my way.

Exhaust fit is nice and even now and I can get my hand up under the bumper onto the cats - previously the cats sat on the edge of the heat-shields at the bottom of the bumper.
I think the shift is slightly better but it wasnt bad to begin with, also the knock I used to hear when pressing the clutch down coming to a stand-still has gone.
Onto the next job probably "offside silencer heat-shield loose", wish me luck with that! Hopefully not too tricky and/or expensive I have already got the locking type washer things so fingers crossed that will be all I need

Just to add that in terms of replacement mounts, it might be best to stick to the standard version rather than aftermarket semi solid mounts:
