Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I run 235's and 295's for the rear with 15mm spacers all around for the looks.
Leading evidence: 'Run 235's and 295's' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). But you can use 15mm spacers, which is what i run on my 225s on the front.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a 2001 C2 w the solid spoke turbo twists. These are:
Front: 18x7.5 et 50 with 225/40
Rear: 18x10 et 65 with 265/35
I need new tires and would like to go wider. Would 255/35 fit the front and 295/30 fit the rear?
Yes, same size wheels. The 295 is the max width allowed per Continental on the 18x10. The rear view of the 996 is a thing of beauty to begin with and the 295 is a perfect compliment. This picture shows the clearance and there is no issue. I can't answer your front wheel question, but someone will know here.
I wouldnt go any wider than 225/40 in the front on 7.5. But you can use 15mm spacers, which is what i run on my 225s on the front. Your 18x10 can handle 295x30. I run 285x30 in the rear with 15 mm spacers. You may need to take the spacers down in size with the 295x30. I plan on running 295x30 rears this summer, but havent figured out what spacers will fit with -2% camber. 7, 10, 12 mm. Dunno yet.
I currently run Continental 275 in the rear, but was running a 295 Bridgestone previously. The 275 is much quieter and overall rides a bit better. The 295 were super eager to turn in. The 275 feels more like a normal riding car, where the 295 wants to go fast. The 275 feels a bit more balanced, but I'll probably eventually go back to 295 to get that cool square tire look and fill out the back end gain that go-fast feeling again.
I have Porsche Sport Techno hollow spoke wheels all around on my 2001 narrow body coupe. The fronts are 8x18, 50mm offset with 225/40ZR18 tires and 15mm H & R spacers on the front with no rubbing issues. I put spacers on just for looks -- spacers are not necessary. The rear wheels are 11x18 63mm offset with 295/30ZR18 tires. No modifications to the fender lip were necessary.
I run 235's and 295's for the rear with 15mm spacers all around for the looks.
I've also got rennline longer studs and nuts..
996 GT3 sizing, as long as your wheels can handle them.
235's on 8.5 and ideally 11" wide for the 295.
Thanks for all the info. I understand the need to be mindful of the rim width vs tire width. There's some interesting testing on this published by Grassroots Motorsports.
The feedback I'm most interested in is what fits under the wheel wells.
