Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The shop was sure it was belt or pulley noise, too, and pulled the serpentine belt, checked all the pulleys, etc.
Leading evidence: 'Check pulleys, etc' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check exhaust hanger at home' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Is there a way to check the exhaust hanger at home?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Noticed an occasional high pitched squeal that sounds like a fanbelt or pulley bearing. Happens mostly on light throttle, especially when easing off after brisk acceleration.
Any guesses as to what it might be?
if you are sure its the belt or pulley those are easy to replace. If the squeal happens while just at idle (or somehow in the driveway) you can remove the belt and run the car,... no more squeal = you found it.
The belt comes off in under 5 minutes. you can then turn the 2 pulleys by hand and feel if they are "crunchy" - that will let you know which one is bad.....if its a pulley. Pulleys are ~$60 IIRC and the belt is less than 1/2 of that.
There are other things that can squeal too, so start simple and see where you end up. -
I dont think I ever saw your car before Cory.... Looks nice, do you have a link with photos?
(I liked the wrenching in the dark with your mechanic shoes on

For the sake of closure, here's what it was: a cracked exhaust hanger. Not sure exactly which one, but at certain engine loads and rpms it was a high frequency metal on metal resonation. More like brake squeal.
Took three hours to diagnose. The shop was sure it was belt or pulley noise, too, and pulled the serpentine belt, checked all the pulleys, etc.
These days, getting careful and time-consuming, hands-on diagnosis of something unusual, is nearly impossible in a lot of places. Try getting a dealer tech to fiddle around for a few hours trying things. "My PST97million shows no faults, so you must be imagining it. Or it's supposed to do that. Either way, can't help you."
