Hi all,
I have a 2010,
987.2 Cayman
that recently started throwing the P2402
OBD
code. When it first started I cleared the code and it went away for a few weeks. Then it came back so I replaced the gas
cap
, which seemed to work for a couple weeks, but the code and check engine light recently returned.
After a little research, I decided to replace replace the Leak Detection Pump. I used the generic, identical
Bosch
unit instead of the
Porsche
branded part. For anyone that stumbles across this thread in the future, the pump is located in the charcoal canister "box" in the frunk. You can remove the top of the "box" which will allows access to the pump without removing the whole assembly which would necessitate removing two very difficult to reach line connectors.
Unfortunately, replacing the pump doesn't seem to have worked because I'm still getting the same code after clearing the
ECU
and starting the car.
Any ideas on what I should check
next
or how to troubleshoot the issue?
Thanks in advance for your help.

This may be a case where a generic isn't going to hack it...
BTW - nice to meet you. And welcome to

Usually, people here introduce themselves and their cars before posing technical questions to the forum. It seems the polite thing to do. I don't want to nag you, but you might think about visiting

and posting a bit about you and your car, maybe a photo or two. I'm just sayin'. I do know the need to fix gets priority.
Thanks for your help! Fortunately, it seems that the new unit just needed a few cycles for the code to clear and it's working fine now.
@Schmidty
Thanks for the post here. I have an '07 CS which just threw P2402 a few nights ago. I have had trouble locating a good reference for where exactly the Carbon Cannister is located in the frunk.
I'll check to see if I took a picture when I had it apart.
@gnutszy
, it's the black box on the passenger side of the frunk (left side of the picture). You can either remove two vent lines from the bottom of the box and remove the whole thing, which is incredibly difficult to do given the lack of clearance, or you can remove the metal "c" clips that hold the top of the black box onto the bottom. I would recommend the latter course of action. My car is a 987.2, so I can't guarantee that your car will be identical. I was able to find some videos on YouTube that were helpful, so I'd recommend looking there as well.
The box is in the same place in a
987.1
. I did this repair a couple of years ago. By far the hardest part of the job was removing and replacing the metal c-clips hold the box together. They are strong and tight!
