I recently replaced all of the bulbs on my ‘08 Boxster with LED , the brighter bulbs are far better than the original halogen. The signals, front and rear really stand out both during night and day. You may need to do some research for your 987.2 , as there may be differences from my 987.1 . The low beams in our 987.2 cars use a 55 watt H7 bulb. I found a site (Daniel Stern Lighting) that sells a 65 watt H9 bulb mounted on to a H7 base which gives you a bit more light. The light is a little whiter to me but not that much. I've had them in my 987.2 for 6 months now and haven't had any issues with the bulbs or to my wiring harness. I've used the same H9/H7 bulb on my other car and it works well. With halogen bulbs, "whiter" light (cooler color temperature) equates to fewer lumens down the road. Daniel Stern has a good write up on that as well. Best to avoid those. http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/bulbs/superwhite/superwhite.html If you want a cooler color temperature you're better off going with a xenon HID or LED conversion. That said, all the drop-in LED bulbs I've seen have really crap patterns: you can't get around the fact that the reflector is designed for a halogen filament and the LED has a completely different shape.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
