My '06 CS is in my fav shop right now getting the OEM shift cables replaced along with an OEM shifter assembly. Car only has 46K miles. But who knows what the previous owner did to shorten the life of these parts. Also, the car was stuck in 5th gear and I had to drive back 8 miles to home garage. feathering the clutch to get it back. So may need to go ahead and replace the clutch too. Is it advisable to now also update the IMS bearing to a new kit? This is all an expensive repair to a car I only put 2K miles on in a driving season in Ohio. Any ideas on the best prices for an IMS upgrade kit\?

I would hold off on a clutch replacement unless you are experiencing symptoms of clutch problems. It might be perfectly fine. And a failing clutch gives a fair amount of warning.

I gave a new clutch kit to my repair shop in the event they test the current one first to be sure it needs replaced. Driving 8 miles in 5th gear had to take of 10K miles off because of slipping the clutch to get moving from a dead stop. We'll see what my guy says after cables are installed. I'll keep all posted here on latest news on the repairs.

IMS can't be replaced on the US 987.1 models without splitting the engine block. The only thing you can do would b replace the outer seal if desired.
