Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • PistonHeads: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Generation: 20261027T035758Z · outcome-qualification-6. Deterministic extraction; no AI model inference. How we use sources

WeirdNeville said: https://www.evo.co.uk/porsche/cayman/6438/porsche-... Manifolds, 200 cell cats, exhaust system and remap will unlock this car. Won't be far off S power from the 2.7 and just lively everywhere. All they need is a bit more torque and a proper alignment and it's the most fun you can have with solid long term reliability on a modest budget. Perfect for a no frills daily driver.

POST 3Original post

I'd go back to my 3.4 987.2 Cayman S in a heartbeat, in fact I am trying to buy it back

POST 4Original post

perfect timing having just swapped my 996.1 C2 for a 987.1 Cayman S. Initial impressions are very good. Unsurprisingly its a very different place to be sat than my 996 was.

POST 5Original post

Evo said: The Gen 2 version is the safest bet in terms of reliability, since they are less prone to the bore scoring that’s notorious with some earlier Mezger units. The M9X was a Mezger engine now? Also, you cannot let a certified 911 snob like JB near a Cayman. He will always judge the car for what it isn't.
