Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

40 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Pulled back into work after dinner and was struck by how different the car looked under the dim fluorescent glare of the parking garage lighting. Thought I would share.

POST 3Original post

You drive your Porsche...IN THE RAIN!!!! Looks cool.

POST 4Original post

I know right... now when he sells it, it can't claim "it's NEVER seen rain". So sad. I mean, doesn't he know the engine could suck too much water through the air box and cause piston rust which leads to bore scoring and even IMS apocalyptic meltdown? I hope this is the '99 model with proven dual row unicorn dingle bearings.

POST 6Original post

Nice shots! SG is one of the reasons I fell in love with my TT. Classy, classy color.

POST 7Original post

Nice picks. I really like seal gray. Agree, very classy color.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13935092

It's true. In fact, my car looked like this before I drove it in the rain... so clearly devalued.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 13935266, 13935107

Interestingly, SG was not my first choice when I was looking for a 996, but I've really come to appreciate it. Thanks... love the GT3.

POST 10Original post

Hahaha. I took my Jeep to a Super Bowl party last night and when somebody asked if I had brought the Porsche I felt like one of those people when I quickly said without thinking "Not in the rain".

POST 11Original post

we love seal gray! Our old 996 aero on the Blue Ridge Pkwy.

POST 12Original post

she's driving so well after some updates. Unfortunately my phone camera now sucks

POST 13Original post

Cool snapshots of your car. It does look good in that setting and the color of the car is great.

He's doing vocal warm-up scales when that picture was taken. ha! Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, Ti!!!

Seal Grey covered in mud and several weeks of NorCal mountain/coastal road smear: photo788.jpg

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13982593

That's awesome. We have another storm coming in this weekend... I'm hoping that's it for this season. Mud slides, sink holes, floods, road closures. This is getting ridiculous.

POST 24Original post

That reminds me I gotta see the glory hole while it's full! Heading up there right NOW. Where is that big road wash out? Hopefully not between here and there. I'm thinking 101 > 37 > 121 >128 and then charge toward Pope Valley/Berryessa from there. If history tells us anything we should be seeing this type of rain right on up through March and touching into April... at least that's what every Steinbeck book I ever read talked about. 😉

POST 25Original post

I too live here in NO CA and will say that our hwys are all screwed up due to these rains, large pot holes in all hyws, will not drive my car on any of them for awhile until they get them fixed. 680 and 880 are the worst.

POST 26Original post

To each their own but I would have cropped it a bit.

Haha for sure, I messed with that pic a lot and even cropped that one a little but left the truck. Either way thanks for fixin it, looks good!

POST 29Original post

Darn it! Washed "Froggy" last night, even the POWERPLANT - but had to get to the lake and see that HOLE! I brought Maggie along so she could shed in the wind for a few hours (I love getting blown fur between my eyeballs and sunglasses while I'm hustling down winding country roads). Yes a fair amount of pot holes but the newly resurfaced stretches along the lake and through the trees are epic. Guess I'll just have to wash ol Froggy again ...

POST 30 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Awesome pictures Comanche. The washed out highway is on HWY 3 here in the Santa Cruz mountains.

POST 31Original post

Quotes source post: 13984911

comanche those are great pictures. I'm in Woodland which is about 45 minutes of two lane road away from Berreyessa. Guess I need to get up there and see the beauty!

POST 32Original post

Thanks guys - Yes. if you're in Woodland, you gotta get out there and tear it up. Sure there's some road wreckage, but you've got a car that can handle! RE the shot of the 996 - i really liked the larger crop with more room for the tail - but the other distractions give good reason to crop. I did a 2 minute PS hack job using the lo-res jpeg, but I'd do it something like this: I realize it's ghetto photoshop - but I'll bet you could stage it again and make it awesome!

CH-Rs on a C4S is a wonderful sight, nice work!

Agreed Dealer installed at purchase though back to the Turbo Look II's for now.

POST 37Original post

Once I finish cosmetic refresh work the plan is to put some polished lip over pewter CH-Rs on my C2. With a subtle drop & spacers it's a deadly combo. Style for days without being over the top. Carrera IIs & turbo look IIs are my favorite OEM wheels on the 996. Except of course refinished GT3s. Decisions, decisions
