Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I measured out the size of slot needed onto some masking tape and stuck that on the ball, then used a pillar drill to drill 3 holes in a line and then simply used a Dremel with a carbide bit to make the slot.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A few little tweaks to the interior. - 997 gear shifter (the old one was knackered so I though it was worth the upgrade) with snooker ball knob. - lower console delete (removed the double DIN setup and now have no tunes however the speakers are rubbish anyway and I've done the gundo hack) Circa 10kg saved The last thing to do in the interior is find a MOMO Mod-07 wheel to complete the retro look and feel.

POST 2Original post

You'll get good money for that wheel if you want to flog it. 3-spokes off a manual are a sought after item for the tip lads who want to fit paddles.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I can well imagine. Some of the parts prices are crazy. I'll probably keep it though, just so I've still got all the original pieces should I ever want it to go back to stock.

POST 4Original post

Keep it for if you get problems at MOT time with the MOD 07. I slip my old original 4 spoke back on at MOT time (Don't bother with the airbag resistor removal though) Quite and easy task once you have done it a few times

POST 5Original post

Looks good, I much prefer the interior with the centre console delete, which I also have in mine. I've been trying to justify one of the Nine Eleven Outaw 917 gear knobs for a while, but €400 :nooo: Is that a "normal" snooker ball gear knob, or one specifically for the 996/7 rectangular shifter?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's even cheaper than that! It's a secondhand snooker ball, bought it off ebay for £5. I measured out the size of slot needed onto some masking tape and stuck that on the ball, then used a pillar drill to drill 3 holes in a line and then simply used a Dremel with a carbide bit to make the slot. It's a pressure fit, tapped down a few times with a rubber mallet onto the OEM gear selector shaft. If you take your gear knob off the shaft looks like this:
