Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

This morning I noticed that there is a little black plastic hose hanging down just behind my front passenger-side wheel well. It pokes through a specially made hole in the plastic cover on the bottom of the car. It looks like its some kind of vent or something? How far is this hose supposed to hang down? Mine is hanging pretty far...

POST 2Original post

I noticed that on mine too. I think it's a drain for rain water. It really doesn't need to hang very far down. Mine hangs out by about 1/2 inch.

POST 4Original post

It is the drain from the hole in the bottom of your gasoline filler... open the door to your gas filler - see the little hole in the center under the filling receptacle at the bottom for when it's over-filled or you spill? This hose is the other end... brad

POST 5Original post

I noticed a similar drain for the oil receptacle in the rear as well.

POST 6Original post

I'm pretty sure that is your Blinker Fluid reservoir overflow tube. If you do an exorbitant amount of turning or lane changes I believe your blinker fluid could overheat, thus overflowing. And the need for the Porsche engineers to incorporate this safeguard. While you are down there I would recommend inspecting and changing the fluid as factory specs say it should be changed every 150,000 blinks.

POST 7Original post

My doesn't hang down nearly as far as I would like . . .

POST 8Original post

I noticed this for the first time this weekend when I jacked the car up (also for the first time) to take the wheels off. I'm glad I saw it as it kind of gets in the way of the jack point, so I was able to avoid it. I had visions of crushing it and finding the passenger side footwell full of water one day...
