Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Hiya, I've taken the plunge and ordered a double din fascia, aerial adapter and AVINUSA fibre adapter for my 2006 Porsche Cayman S w/ Bose. I'm looking at head units now and RMS is all over the map. Most say they can do 50x4 but RMS fluctuates from 14 to 22 watts. Does anyone know what you need for decent sound? Anything comparable to the factory setup. These are my two favourites, I want something with minimal physical buttons. https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/Digital+Media+Receivers/MVH-1400NEX https://www.alpine-usa.com/product/apple-wireless-carplay-ilx-107 Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Since you will be running the factory Bose amp via RCA pre-amp outputs, the stats of the head unit’s amplifier does not matter at all since it is not being used.

POST 4Original post

Does the pre-amp voltage matter? The units I'm looking at are 2v or 4v. I prefer the 2v unit but I want to make sure it's not going to cause clipping or limit the volume excessively.

POST 5Original post

I'm running 4v, and it works fine. Can't attest to 2v, but if I recall correctly, the aftermarket harnesses like 4v.

POST 6Original post

Found a 4v one I like: https://www.crutchfield.ca/S-aGxipZ0wMT8/p_500ILXW650/Alpine-ILX-W650.html Now to select a backup camera. I'll start a new thread for that. Thanks for the advice everyone!
