Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just started noticing a strange vibration when I reach speeds of 75mph. I check tires and inflation was off and i made the adjustment. However vibration is still apparent. There is no vibration of the steering wheel however its apparent in the cabin. Its a 99 carrera 6 speed. Any ideas what could be causing this. I'm leaning towards a tire balancing issue but because there is no vibration in the steering wheel it has me stumped?

POST 2Original post

Rear wheel weight fell off I reckon. Costs about £5 to get a wheel balanced nowadays, i'd take it in and get all 4 done. It has got to be the intial part in process of elimination. *BUT* Before you drive the car again CHECK ALL THE WHEEL BOLTS ARE MIN 100nm TORQUE or at least as tight as you think is correct. Jack up car and check for play in bearings, wobble quater to three and six o'clock (those are positions, not time you should do it!!! ) If still apparent then its a tough one.... I am sure one of the above will be the answer :thumb:

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hey thanks got the wheels balanced last night, and like you suggested, that seemd to have done it. Cruised around 85 and not a single shake. I was informed, I should consider replacing the front shocks but not a major issue. Thanks again......

POST 4Original post

Torque 130NM / 96ft lbs for wheelbolts, retighten after 50miles TB

POST 5Original post

:thumb: I think that should be on a sticky, it is crucial information IMO
