Hi What is the max depth of 6.5" door speaker I can fit to my 987.1 ? I've seen quoted on forums 2.25" but heard of others fitting speakers like the Hertz Uno which quote 2.48". TIA

Don't know what the maximum depth speakers our doors can accommodate, but I had JL Audio C2 650 speakers professionally installed in my Cayman and the manufacturer's website indicates the installation depth to be 2.44".

Measured today so here are sizes and pics......max depth approx 77mm with window down! From metal door skin to door inner window bar = 67mm From speaker rear mounting face to metal door skin = 10mm Mounting basket

For what is is worth, I have removed my 981 OEM standard speakers. They measure 6.5" wide (16.6mm) x 2.5" deep (6mm). I too, and looking for the best speakers to replace OEM. There is also a empty 4" tweeter mount in my 981 base interior door hardware.
