Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, A few days ago I put my car away in the garage (after sitting on the drive all day in the cold and wet) and when I went to lock it the car chirped as if a door was open (or the centre console), but wasn't. I put it down to the one of the sensors being wet and I've driven it quite a bit since then, so it's now completely dry and back in garage (having been fine since). However, about one hour ago the alarm went off for no reason (checked to see if anything had dropped on the car), it sounded both the horn and the alarm. I'm wondering whether the 2 are related, but I'm not sure as it was a few days ago. Wrt to the alarm, does it record why it went off. The car's under the new warranty scheme (long story), so I'll get it booked in to be sorted, as I don't want that thing going off at 2am!! If it goes go off in the middle of the night, what's the best way to keep it disarmed? Pressing the remote stopped the alarm from going off, but does it reset itself again? In which case, do I need to keep the key in the ignition (not worried about that, because there's another car in front of the garage). If I do need to keep it in the ignition, is it position I or II? I'm not keen on leaving it in position II because it might damage the solenoid. Cheers, GD

POST 2Original post

The alarm module records the last 10 events, and the fault memory will record any faults. If you leave the car unlocked it won't set the alarm. No need to leave the key in the ignition.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Richard, I'll get it looked at. The alarm was quiet last night!!
