not even 2 weeks into the new warranty regime and so far we have heard two accounts of pads and discs needing to be changed (and mufflers on one car) before they will allow you to spend another £1400 on a renewal.

We've also had one renewal refused as PCM had been replaced with another Sat nav.

I use Cambridge for the scheduled rubber stamps and as yet they have not tried it on with anything come servicing or renewal time (e.g.

They have come back and said that they can only extend the warranty if i change all my brake discs and pads front and rear because there is some rust on them.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have just had my car sent into the dealers for the new warranty extension.
They have come back and said that they can only extend the warranty if i change all my brake discs and pads front and rear because there is some rust on them. Even though they are not covered under the warranty they reckon that the rust will cause the suspension etc to get damaged.
If that sound rediculous then check this, i only had the car in for a service in August and have done 700 miles since then and at that time they said that the discs and pads were fine.
So they think that in 2 months the discs have deterioted so much that they will damage the suspension, hub, shocks that they need to change them for them to issue a new warranty.
Have you guys ever heard of anything so ridiculous. I have notified Porsche customer services who will investigate and get back to me.
Hmmm... So my prediction is coming true already then... not even 2 weeks into the new warranty regime and so far we have heard two accounts of pads and discs needing to be changed (and mufflers on one car) before they will allow you to spend another £1400 on a renewal.

If this is meant to bring more work into the OPC workshops I think Porsche have scored a spectacular own goal here.
We are going to see a lot of this over the coming months.Would be good to see which OPC's are trying it on and which are playing fair. We can't name and shame but what area does the OP live in?
BTW OPC Mid Sussex have informed me that they don't want me or my car going out of the network so have said they will renew the warranty with the Kenwood unit in.. I have therefore agreed to the 111pt check at a discounted rate to see what else crops up before they will warranty the car. If they play fair I will keep the car fully stamped as I will be getting rid of it next year (probably).
The dealer is in Chiswick...
Porsche GB have requested them to send photos and measure the thickness of the discs.
Does anyone know about the coolant bleed valve, because thats the other thing they have said. The yreckon its leaking and will cost £432 to fix.
So, thier quote: £678 Front discs and pads
£758 Rear discs and pads
£432 Replace Coolant Bleed valve
Total £1868 + VAT
£1350 New warranty
Grand Total £3544
Looks like its bye bye to my warranty, just had the RMS done about 2 months ago, so will risk anything else going wrong with it afterall i will have save close enough to £3500 for any eventualities.
What a complete and utter p* take. Rust interfering with suspension...I've think I've heard it all now.
Chiswick, Reading and Guildford are all owned by PCGB.
Does anyone of a OPC that actually doesn't want to rip of its customers. I don't mind paying for something that is fair and needs doing.
The service manager said to me that a standing car will get rust on it. I drive my car every weekend without fail. He reckons that in the five days inbetween driving it will cause enough errosion to warrant a disc change. I said to him that he had better start changing the discs onevery car on the forecourt then.
Also he said that my car would not pass a MOT, which incidently i did 3 weeks ago and it passed with flying colours.
Its no coincidence that new cars sales have plummeted and thier warranty has gone sky high and the dealers are riping off thier customers to compensate.
Day light robbery!!!!
Another cross against Chiswick then! This corruption and blatant BS is getting worse and worse.
Do you think PCGB cares about a minority of customers who aren't prepared to take the sh!t anymore? My guess is no, even though every £ counts these days. :wall:
(that was my 996 post and it's a rant at Porsche, good omen!)
I use Cambridge for the scheduled rubber stamps and as yet they have not tried it on with anything come servicing or renewal time (e.g. no issue with my non-OE disks/pads). My local indy gets anything else that it needs.
Hi,
Have you got anything in writing on this?? Reason why I am asking is that my OPC have clearly stated that the warranty would be void if I wre to place an AVIC system in my car.Cardiff OPC are in my opinion a reasonable bunch and took advise from PGB on this. If there is inequity amongst the OPC's there will be a huge can of worms being opened.
Regards Alan.
I have to say the Guildford previously warrantied my car without issue, although every time it goes in, they say, needs new pads. I say, doesn't the sensor come on when it needs new pads? They say, err, yes.
My concern is that they will say, needs new pads otherwise no warranty.
If so, I'll sell the car, because I'm not running the 996 engine without warranty and I won't be taken the p* out of.
I also won't buy Porsche marque again and there's a (large) group of Porsche owners at my work who are watching my up coming service with great interest (and similar views)
My rear discs needed replacing according to OPC Glasgow before they would issue the old style warranty even though they were not covered. The specialist i used inspected the brakes and said they were talking through their arse. I took the decision then to bank the warraty money and the money I save in not using the OPC network and I now have a 3.5K pot for eventualities. Glasgow OPC are in the process of relocating to a huge shiny new place at a cost of millions no doubt and I think I know who may be paying for it.
why is it that we feel we have to have eye's in the back of you head to get your car serviced at an OPC.
I picked mine up last time with a litre of Mobil 1 and a bottle of washer fluid in the boot & on the invoice. I also had the "your brakes need replacing" chant.
They are undermining themselves and too arrogant or stoopid to see it.
