Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

i have my ipod set up on a monster fm transmitter and it uses an outlet to get power. i would like to leave it pluged in all the time but dont want to worrie about the battery.(i know it doesnt take a lot of juice) is there a way i can mod my car so the outlets no longer work when the cars off?

POST 3Original post

Both power outlets are always on. Per the manual you shouldn't have anything plugged into your outlets for more than 5 minutes after the car has been switched off. A solution that I see is if you have to always have your iPod plugged in you should hard wire the FM transmitter to the fuse box. Choose a fuse that is only on when the car is on. Like the rear wipers for example. You might take a look at this thread as this is a similar situation: http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-electronics/14230-lighter-socket-top-console.html

Personally, I would look for an amp turn on wire off the back of the radio. You can wire this to a relay that will provide power to your Ipod whenever the radio is turned on, even if the key is off.
