I was just wondering if I missed something in the manual or can a "Beep, Honk or tone be chosen to sound when I lock and unlock the car? Sometimes when I get out of the car and press the key as I walk away I start wondering if the car locked so I walk back and check the car to make sure it locked. All my other cars sound a beep or honk.
Sure would make me feel better if I heard a deffinite sound and I would not have to ask my wife if she heard the "thud" sound of the car locking!
Thanks All
You're not the only one to come up against this... the only signal available OEM is the flashing lights, unfortunately. Two choices - either learn to look at them as you set the lock, or you can get a Remote Key, from Mods4cars. It's a nifty module that you add to the car that not only beeps the horn for lock/unlock, but does a bunch of other cool things, too - like roll your windows up/down using your key, dips the passenger-side mirror when the car's in reverse (this is the main reason I got it) so you don't bash up your wheels when you parallel park, and a bunch of other things that I forget. They are a sponsor, so go to the sponsor page and click on their banner, and you can read all about it... they're not inexpensive though, but they do a lot. I like mine, and sometimes there are group buys for them on the Cayman Club so they can be gotten for less than list what that's happening.

Yes, I did just that when I ordered the part.
Question: I would like to give a donation for this "Hosting service domain" but I do not do Pay Pal. Any way to donate other than Pay Pal?
I have this feature on my 07 CS, i.e, passenger side mirror dips in reverse! I don't recall that it was an option, but came standard. The other things would be nice though.
If you have powerseats you will have the tilting mirrors as well. But I don't think any of the Caymans have a horn notification when the doors are locked (thank goodness I hate that and wish I could turn it off on my Audi).
As I recall the Adaptive Sports Seats option features the dip of the passenger side mirror when in reverse.
I believe that there are memory settings with *** {Gee, it didn't like my acronym?
} for two drivers--for their seat and mirror settings.
I have not heard about any sound settings upon door locking associated with this option.
Well, Adaptive Sports Seats are an expensive option, so one might as well get something for one's money. Porsche seems to bundle and hide many features within the options. I guess we'll keep discovering them.
That's what the CC is for!
Actually mine came as part of the "preferred package" option which included power/memory seats and a few other expensive goodies.
I'd forgotten about the mirror dip with the power seat option - thanks for the reminder... I wanted the sport seats, and because of that, even though I have all the options contained in the "preferred package plus," I had to order them a-la-carte because of the sports seats... it was a more expensive way to go, but not as expensive as adding the adaptive sport seats... oh well...

Just where do you go to set the mirror dip?
If you have the option then it is automatic, no setting required as far as I know.
It must say in the manual someplace - I believe you have to have the side mirror adjustment switch (the three-position switch for left, right or none) in a particular spot (not sure which) and then when you put the car in reverse, it should dip automatically. This is only if you have the power seat option, though.

I forgot about that. You do have to position the mirror control first.
But I had to look it up to refersh my memory.
"Once the driver's seat setting has been stored, an
individual lowered position of the passenger's
door mirror may be stored for driving in reverse:
1. Apply the handbrake.
2. Switch the ignition on with the desired vehicle
key.
3. Engage reverse gear.
4. Select passenger side with mirror switch.
The passenger’s mirror swivels downwards.
5. Set passenger’s door mirror to desired final
position.
6. Keep memory button M depressed and
additionally press key button 1.
The individual setting is now assigned to this
remote control and to the key button."
