Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used the car jack (behind the spare) to force the hinges.

It has the auto dimming mirrors but the passenger one appears a slightly different colour, is this normal or has it been changed for the wrong type??
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I had the same luggage compartment issue as you and fixed it as follows:
Morning all and Happy New Year!!
Finally got my act together and bought a 996TT, however there are a couple of things I'd like to clarify:
Luggage compartment light doesn't appear to work when opening, but when you open the engine lid they both come on??
It has the auto dimming mirrors but the passenger one appears a slightly different colour, is this normal or has it been changed for the wrong type??
The diverter valves, look to be factory ones is it worth upgrading to forge etc or are new standard ones ok??
The sat nav discs are 2003 maps are there anywhere who do later ones??
Coloured wheel centres have perished where would be the cheapest place to get some, best I've seen is ebay @ £130+
Thanks for any help, other than these little niggles the car is awesome!!
Regards Rick
Hi
Welcome to the site, you will get lots of useful help & tips.
I had the same luggage compartment issue as you and fixed it as follows:
1st climb in to the luggage compartment and close the lid. If it is dark then you have a different problem to mine. If it is light then the compartment light is now working but needs resetting, which is a job for the technicians at your OPC (whatever you do don't trust an Indy with the work as this will drastically reduce the value of your porsche).
Next you have to figure a way to get out of the luggage compartment. I used the car jack (behind the spare) to force the hinges. As you have a TT you will need to invent an alternate method as you have no spare wheel.
Once you have fixed the luggage compartment light in this way you won't care too much about your wheel centres!
Surely you are having a laugh?
Sarcastic and unhelpful comments like that aren't exactly going to win you any friends round here and in light of a recent bump not helping your case.
Congrats on the TT. :thumb:
As to your questions I have no idea other than a few wild stab in the dark comments.
On the basis the light works, it's not the bulb!
However as it comes on when the engine lid is open it would appear to be a software issue perhaps. Have you checked the fuses as the engine lid may have an independent system linked to the compartment lid if that makes sense!
The mirrors on my 997 are the same colour and cannot see the point or the reason why they would be any different on the 996.
Is the car under a current Porsche warranty? If so, personally I'd get the standard ones.
Sat Nav. Not as far as I'm aware. Direct with Porsche/OPC on this one I think...

Have to say having been a member of this site for some time not really seen many reply posts like this. No humerous context really. :?:
