Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I can't get my three buttons to learn my garage door opener. I'm doing everything right - the car lights flash indicating that it has received the code. But it doesn't work. I have tried to us e the learn button on the garge door motor but nothing. Thank you, Allan

POST 2Original post

Garage Door Programing This was originally posted some time ago by another user. I did a little editing to, I hope, clarify it. Worked well for me. To begin with you have to find out if your Garage Door Opener is of the Rolling Code type? Here are the steps. 1. NOT rolling code: Follow the Porsche manual and set your home link button, once your home-link button is at the ready state, step out of the car and point your remote at the front bumper (License Plate area) Press and hold for a few seconds. That should do it. 2. Rolling code: Same step as above, after it is done, go to your garage door head motor unit and press the learn button, a led light will start flashing (you have around 30 seconds to program it) go back into your car and press the programmed button, the 2 should sync (press it minimum 2 - 3 times) and your homelink should operate your garage door opener now. I have a rolling code Genie and took me a while to figure this out, but once I figured it out, it took less than 5 minutes to program. One tip is to do the remote programming away from the garage door, this will help speed things up, if you don't your door will be going up and down until it shuts off b/c of over heating. Hg

POST 3Original post

Hg thanks for trying to help. I recently moved to a new home. I had no problem programming (non-rolling) the homelink at my old home. At the new home it's different. I can't get it to take the code (non-rolling as well) despite doing everything but standing on my head (which may not be a bad idea). Guess I'll be calling Porsche or more in-depthly searching the Club site, which I haven't done to date.

When you do search you should find these: http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-electronics/3717-homelink-garage-door-programming.html http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-chat/1461-homelink-garage-door-opener-help.html That should help

POST 5Original post

Porsche won't help you. you need to use the HomeLink URL's posted above. there are specific instructions available there.

POST 7Original post

Hopefully, the links above helped. If not, you need to determine what type of opener that you have and then locate the manual. If the manual is not present, then you can likely download one from their website. The Cayman requires that the key be in the on position to work. Here is how I had to program mine. I have two garage remotes. 1. I used one of the remotes to program my car by following the directions in the Cayman owner's manual. (Note: it wouldn't open the door yet, as the opener doesn't recognize the car. 2. I cleared the codes from the garage door opener, per its manual. 3. Press the learn button on the garage door opener panel. Then, within 20-30 seconds, go to the Cayman (key on) and press the I button, holding it until the light flashes on the garage door opener. 4. Do the same with each door remote, (step 3) substituting the remote to replace the car. Then both remotes and the car open and close the door. It was painful the first time when I got the car home ... Good luck.

POST 8Original post

yeah, i guess I had a similar problem...it just wouldn't work, following the instructions from Porsche...then I checked this Trusty Forum, and voila! there was a step that was missing. I followed the Forum instructions & it worked. yay!

POST 9Original post

Has anyone been able to program multiple buttons for the same rolling code opener? I tried to program all three buttons sequentially for the same opener and when I finished only the last button still worked. I don't want to have to look up to figure out which button I'm pressing. The Porsche homelink buttons aren't as finger-friendly as on my other cars.
