Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Figures are higher than one would expect because I've changed cars after a year so costs in first year have been high because I've done 24k service in each year plus spent money bring car up to scratch by replacing worn parts (which previous owner had not done knowing they were selling)

Suggestion
Just to add an observation its not just 996 cars depreciating fast its every type of car, to follow on from an earlier blog if you buy correct ie low mileage top spec good condition a 996 wont lose as much as an earlier well used base model.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It's all very well these super cheap Porsches (996's mainly) coming up for sale at the moment, but I think a few new owners could come seriously unstuck if they don't know what they're getting into re servicing/maintenance costs.
My friend with 996 C4S, now out of warranty, just got a bill for nearly £8,000 from a London Indie, for a service, couple of tyres, two wheel bearings, RMS,clutch and a few other bits and bobs, and he bought it a year ago from an Indie at top money.
Don't know about you lot, but I haven't got 8 quid at the moment, let alone 8 grand.
My thoughts exactly!
Pistonheads is full of threads stating Turbo's etc going on e bay for £30k. This is all very well until 3 months down the line when it needs £10k spending on it
I may be in a minority here but anyone thinking of buying a 911 at the VERY bottom end of the market shouldn't really be buying a 911. Decent cars still fetch decent money from what I can see. If I were in the market for a 911 now I would be looking at spending that little bit extra and getting from the likes of Mark, piece of mind is priceless :thumb:
I don't disagree with the original points, but £5800 for this:
for a service - £600
couple of tyres - £300
two wheel bearings - £400
RMS,clutch - £1500 (get clutch done at same time to save labour)
..and a few other bits and bobs, and he bought it a year ago from an Indie at top money.
That is an outrageously expensive few bits + bobs!
The biggest expense on a 996 (at the moment) is the killer depreciation!
The second biggest expense is the reliability of the engines in early 996s!

Thats astounding my c4s cab is in for rms new clutch and two new front rads truth be told I could have left them for ages but I just love things being right, price from my indie £1550.00 including vat.

Ask yourself would you sell your top range mint 996 for below what you know it to be worth. I think not, its like houses the right location and type of house is still sought after and still desirable enough for people to pay extra.
