I would look up a recommended 'Indie' near you for the work.

I would have liked to give the leather a once over but wasn't going to happen without the use of a heater of some sorts.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Thought I would come out of lurking on this site and say hello now that I'm a new owner. Picked up a 996 turbo on Friday ... drove it up from South London in far from ideal conditions – certainly didn't get chance to stretch it's legs fully. I've suffered pergatory since due to personal and work commitments which has meant it's stayed in the garage since Friday. On the positive side Gurcharn is on his way North to attend to the car – I appreciate first posts require obligatory photographs but I will wait until the master has weaved his magic.
So first impressions ... compaired to the Audi the front end feels very light (no big engine hanging over the front end), very communicative – loads of feedback, it does struggle with bumps and tramlines on some surfaces. The power delivery is sublime and feels strong – I can't believe how controlled it feels – the speedo isn't callobrated to the sensation of speed ... a quick dab of the accelerator seems to add 30mph to the readout. I was worried about the exhaust note ... much more vocal than I expected with different tones to savour across the range – delightful!!!
Anyway I'm very happy to have joined Porsche ownership. Fully enamoured by the car and looking forward to getting a chance to actually drive it.
And finally a sincere big thanks to Jamie. His patience during my 12 month search has been remarkable. After a few false starts I found the right car for me and the whole process was very simple, straightforward and most importantly painless. I really can't recommend his services enough plus he is an enthusiast just like the rest of us!!!
Back soon with pics.
Rich.

Welcome to the forum Rich and a great choice you have made. I have had my turbo for oVer two years and still love every drive in it.
Any questions you have on it feel free to post them up and I am sure you will get a speedy response.
Congrats Rich, nice car......as to the wayward front end, as the salesman would say..."they all do that Sir!". They can be tamed a little by checking that the wheel alignment is correct....should be done every two years or so. It might improve things. I would look up a recommended 'Indie' near you for the work. Enjoy.....
Thanks for the warm welcome guys.
Spec is pretty much as Jamie said ...

Really pleased with it so far although still locked away since the weekend. I've been reading up on them for a number of years but always managed to convince myself one way or another that I couldn't justify the expenditure - temptation got the better of me though following a Porsche Experience day. It wasn't the performance that impressed me it was the handling and most of all the braking performance that blew me away ... the 997 GT2 is some machine!!!
I had a look at a few in various non-OPC dealerships but never had a drive in one - I'm sad to say none of them took me seriously.
As promised pics to follow once it's in a more presentable state - still looking travel weary following my journey north after picking it up.
Rich.
Unfortunately had to put Gurcham off until the New Year for a number of reasons. Once I get some daylight I'll post some interim photo's ... will make the after pictures even more impressive. Here's waiting for the weekend.
Rich.
(PS got to stretch it's legs for the first time this weekend albeit in very rainy conditions so care taken - wow what a car - seriously flatters my meagre driving abilities)
Apologies for the delay in getting some photo's uploaded - finally got a chance to get it clean between Christmas & New Year ...
Front on next to my everyday car ... nearly a bugatti veyron matching 1000bhp between them.
Favourite angle of the rear flanks ... very much like the hips on a curvaceous woman ... the car was running from cold if you were wondering why the photo looks a little misty - not doe for atmospheric effect but purely out of laziness!!!
Side on ...
Front seats - wasn't overly keen on the bright seat belts when I first saw the car but really like them now
Dash ...
And last but not least a picture of the ceramics ...
Still enjoying the ownership experience :santa:
Rich.
Pete - in all honesty I'm not sure. I had planned early Jan but my accountant has just hit me with an unexpected liability payable to HMRC by the end of the month.
Was now thinking early spring (March'ish) once the weather has warmed up. Just washing it in 3ºC between Christmas and New Year was hard work ... quick detailer was smearing on the cold metal. I would have liked to give the leather a once over but wasn't going to happen without the use of a heater of some sorts.
Rich.
Don't worry Rich. Keeping the salt off at these times as well as the wheels clean is most important. Damned HMRC, what do they need it for.....oh yeh... to give to the banks. :hand:
I cleaned my car and as I was towelling the large droplets (like this ever since I detailed using G's prods a month ago) the fine film left was immediately freezing leaving it impossible to finish. All I managed was to take it out to dry the brakes then into the garage. The ice had frozen on the brake surfaces too making the first few minutes a bit scary
. Depressed the pedal a few times and not a lot happened and it wasn't rust build up as I drove it the day before.
Whenever you get the car detailed post some pics as we all like to see the master at work and a beautiful motor.
Take care.
Pete
