Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all
I've now had my 996 cab (2000) for 3 months and I love it. Great to drive, looks fab, fuel consumption not too bad, fantastic!
Should things be this simple??!!
I can't help thinking I should be doing or checking something aside from just filling her up!
The oil level light shows 1 bar down from full now when cold and 2 when warmer but nowhere near the refil level. Can't see any signs of oil leaks either.
The only thing that has caused me a problem is the boot lid wouldn't shut. After a bit of poking around and pushing the mechanism down it locked and now it works.
Thanks all!
Jonny
Funkzig,
At the risk of stating the obvious, you should be doing the normal stuff. I check tyre pressures at least every 2 - 3 weeks - it's very rare that there's not at least one tyre that needs some air.
Make sure you're checking your coolant level too. You obviously keep a close eye on the oil level at start up each morning.
All basic stuff, but so often overlooked.
Life can be simple if your car has been well maintained.
I've had a 996 C2 (01) plate since April this year. Have just clocked 10K! not commuting but covering the length and breadth of this fantastic isle in which we reside.
Since then I have filled it up with some petrol, some oil, maybe a litre or so, and some coolant (slight leak from the expansion tank). She has just had a 10K service from Portiacraft who do a fantastic job looking after her and answer all my irritating ownership queries and she has a clean bill of health.
So I think the answer is if anything concerns you speak to someone in the know, always monitor everything, including under the car for leaks drips etc and enjoy probably the best engineered performance car money can buy! oh and drive it loads!
