I've been pumping money into my 06
Boxster S
lately after driving a 2011
Spyder
and seeing what the chassis is capable of. Granted I know the 3.4L is very different, but my reasearch has shown there are some easy improvements that can be made to wake up the 3.2. For starters I have a valved exhaust and a fabspeed tune. I just bought a used
cayman
3.4 TB and distributor tube in hopes of adding some more midrange grunt. The threads I used for research are
Comparing standard plenum against oversized plenums.

The majority of the swap seems reasonably straightforward, however I keep getting hung up on adapting the distributor tube to the 3.2 using the "sleeves". The creater of the mod said that he got some silicone reducers but I'm hesitant to buy something that needs modification to fit. I uderstand the principle behind buying 2 80mm sleeves and 2 90mm sleeves to go over them, however when you search those part numbers, one of them brings you to a throttle body gasket, not a sleeve.
The only place I can work on my car is at my repair shop, and I don't want to leave the car disabled there, so getting it right the first time is a priority for me. I'm of the opinion the factor intake has 80mm sleeves and all I need is a 90mm sleeve off a cayman and then I can just fit that over the boxster sleeve? Any help would be appreciated.
Part numbers referenced:
Rubber sleeve
997 110 685 00 2 off (90 mm ID)
996 110 682 02 2 off 80mm sleeves to replace original
I would just get the IPD Plenum. I had one and it worked well with the 74mm TB.
From what I've seen the IPD plenum has the same torque dip as the rest of them. The appeal of this mod is it fixes the low speed torque dip. Add to the fact I'm cheap and already bought this whole setup for $150. My main goal here is to get as much low to mid power as possible as I think the car has plenty of top end.
