You can use a resistor to replace the load from the air pump, but the problem is the O2 sensors downstream will notice less clean air so you will get a code from that.

The EVO bracket is probably the way to go, it moved the pump out of the way of the Rennline carbon intake I have installed on my 996.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Can you bypass the SAP CEL with a resistor if deleting it?
Or anyone sell a spacer / Bracket separately to move pump over for a 3.8 airbox?
Evoms / Fabspeed?
C2 / C4 996
You can use a resistor to replace the load from the air pump, but the problem is the O2 sensors downstream will notice less clean air so you will get a code from that. I seem to recall there is a fix to move it, but I don't recall what it is.
EVOMS made a bracket which allowed you to move the air pump to the left by about 1/2. I bought a couple several years ago to relocate mine for the installation of 3.8 air boxes. I do not know if they are still available.

Email sent to Evoms, hoping a simpler quick opitons.
A ROW ECU flash at a reasonable cost would work too..
Assumed the ECU would be too smart for that.
If you are going to re-flash the ECU to ROW, check what your local emission requirements are. The ROW eliminates the secondary air and that might cause a problem if you have to get your car emission tested.
SAP only comes into play on cold starts usually for less than a minute.
So, don't know of any state that requires a cold start test for emission tests.
Maybe some states can obd2 scan the DME for a non standard USA flash like a tune or ROW..? But that would probably take a Porsche specific PIWIS type scanner system I doubt any state has..?
A resistor will not work as airflow needs to sensed at the flaps iirr....
I purchased two brackets from Fabspeed back in 2021. (one for myself and one for someone else)
Contact them via e-mail and ask about the brackets that come with their intake.
They ran $40-$50 each IIRC.
Before I deleted the SAP, I moved it over a bit just by cutting and welding up the existing bracket. It's quite easily done. In terms of flashing, to be specific it's a euro 2 flash you'd need to run without the air pump. A slightly less sledgehammer approach is to zero the air pump airflow vs voltage table and resistor off the vac valve (or change eskonf).
As I understand it, over the years Calif Air Resources Board has collected a huge data base of vehicle checksums that are now used to verify cars match them when emissions testing. If your car has a tune, some of its checksums won't match the database and that will raise a red flag. No PIWIS needed.
It will fail any emmsions test that that looks at the readiness commands. It shows as "not set" or incomplete. The row tune just turns the command for test off....it will not "complete" the test. My states emmisions computers have a list of neccessary readinesses for each car supplied by the epa.
Massachusetts validates memory checksums as part of the emissions test. When a vehicle is more than 15 years old the only MA emissions test is the CEL can't be on.
Damn, wish that was true in CA, Jay Leno is now trying to pass a bill in the senate here in CA that classic cars 35 years old and older will not need smog testing but only if it is insured as a classic, LOL got 10 more years before I can go LS.
Classic is basically a weekend car, cannot be a only car owned.
Most of Texas does not have emissions testing.
Cars 25 years old and older no longer need emissions testing in the few counties that have been mandated by the EPA.
Next year will be the last one for my car.
It will be nice to not have to pay for a test for at least one car.
Ive been thinking about redesigning the air pump relocation bracket. I have the evoms and it makes the pump so much louder in the cabin when its running. Pretty annoying.
Evoms never responded. Fabspeed did, their bracket is on the way. $75 Shipped.
It arrived and looks like honker made from 1/8 stainless.
Hopefully it fits well with out to much reengineering. I assumed the chassis side would be flat.. I have not investigated yet.
Can you just add some Lord / Isolated mounts?

In Kentucky, will eventually delete SAP when it is tune time. I don't plan on neutering, 200 cell sport cats, Shed some weight, clean up the engine bay, Simplify..
I used three M6x30mm+8mm Male-Female Brass Hex PCB Motherboard Spacer Standoffs. It pushes the motor towards the fender 30mm and allows you to fit the 997 snorkel. I don't have any pictures at the moment.
That looks 100x better than the Evom bracket. The Evom bracket is paper thin sheet metal. Would love to see final install pics when you get a chance.
Thanks!
Strangely I didnt have any fitment issues with the 3.8 box on my 3.4. Ended up deleting SAI anyway - if you have a 99 cable throttle car you can use the ROW DME coding, it will ignore SAI and the post-o2
Thank you for choosing Fabspeed! Feel free to reach out to us at any time if there anything else you need assistance with on your 996. We have plenty of support for those cars!
