Assuming no one advises against doing that using axle stands, can anyone recommend the positioning of the jack and stands?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Although I was used to woring n my old SC I have not had to do anything to my 996 since acquiring it, but I woud now like to change the oil and filter. Assuming no one advises against doing that using axle stands, can anyone recommend the positioning of the jack and stands? I have a low entry/high lift jack of course; and on the SC I could just jack the car under the engine, but I doubt that will be a good idea with the 996 engine!

POST 2Original post

All really easy to get to without a jack or lift, i just did mine in the yard on the ground. Tim '03 996 Cab

POST 3Original post

Ive done mine on the ground before too, In fact lifting it for stands I don't think makes that much difference unless you want to remove the silencers to do plugs as well.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think mine is lowered and it has an aero kit so clearance would be a problem. I'd be interested to know the standard ride height - can anyone tell me? I suspect the car is as supplied new to the previous owner so if I am right it was an option?
