Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Last time I changed my oil and filter, I went to get my filter wrench, reached up and found the filter barely hand tight.

Suggestion
Despite my attempts at throughly wiping down the oil filter cap after changing the filter, there always seems to be a bit of oil wetness on the cap the next day.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've had my 2002 C4S for about 18 years and never a drop of oil leaked. Recently I noticed a small leak dripping from the oil filter. Maybe a tablespoon after a drive. I've not driven it a lot after the last oil change, I suppose I could have goofed something up with the filter (gasket?). Or could something more insidious like a RMS? Would an RMS leak onto the oil filter? I have not had it up on a lift or raised it up to get my head right under it, but I can see the bottom of the filter and that is where the drips fall from. I do have the spin-on oil filter adapter.
Thanks for any experiences you've had with a similar issue!
Last time I changed my oil and filter, I went to get my filter wrench, reached up and found the filter barely hand tight. It didn't leak or drip, but was definitely loose. I have the spin-on oil filter adapter as well. So just reach in there and check the oil filter isn't loose.
Well, just saw your post. Anyway, make sure both the adapter and oil filter are snug. Remember, the oil filter adapter also has an O-ring seal, so make sure it is snug.
Which filter are you using with the adapter? I got a Baldwin filter that just did not fit right and caused a minor leak. I bought three of the Baldwin filters, 2 were fine, but the third caused a leak..... no issues with the Wix filters......

When oil leaks down, while driving it can travel weird ways to the bottom of the engine.
It can also travel backwards, sideways, and forwards.
I've also seen it travel upwards.
You may be overreacting. Ive noticed the same thing on my car after changing the oil filter. Clean the area thoroughly and monitor for new signs for oil.
Despite my attempts at throughly wiping down the oil filter cap after changing the filter, there always seems to be a bit of oil wetness on the cap the next day. It doesnt come back after I wipe it again.
edit: Im using the stock oil filter.
