The Porsche spec was for a 993, all sites I checked on appear to have my number plate associated with a 993 for some reason!

I've only just noticed that the previous owner used smaller tyres than the standard Porsche spec.

Hi all, The time has inevitably arrived to part with a large chunk of cash for some rubbers! I've only just noticed that the previous owner used smaller tyres than the standard Porsche spec. Porsche Spec: Rears - 285/30/Z18, Fronts - 235/40/Z18 Current Tyres: Rears - 265/35/Z18, Fronts - 225/40/Z18 Some questions: 1. Are smaller tyres going to have any detrimental effect on: a. tyre wear b. handling/performance 2. Anybody have any views on Avon branded tyres? (I do a lot of miles so expecting to replace tyres regularly. Don't track the car at all) Thanks in advance. Prav. **** EDIT ****** Just so this post doesn't confuse anyone else. The current tyre sizes are actually the right size for alloys (18" Sport). The Porsche spec was for a 993, all sites I checked on appear to have my number plate associated with a 993 for some reason! I have just secured all 4 of my tyres from Kwik-Fit for £557. Pirelli P-Zero Rosso N4 front and rear. They are currently doing a 30% discount for 4 tyres. Offer is valid until 31st Jan BlackCircles came to £722.98 for the exact same tyres MyTyres came to £740.40, again exact same tyres eTyres came to £677.60, same tyres event-tyres came to £678.06, same tyres. All include balancing, valves, fitting, and VAT. Kwik-Fit also have the bonus of using 100% nitrogen to fill the tyres as opposed to the usual compressed air. (Air is 78% nitrogen, but apparently the other 22% makes a big difference to leakage, performance, and noise reduction). *****************
