Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am trying or should I say failling to install a CDR23 on a pre-2002 996 It has a typical ISO block but also a small rectangular jack for the MOST BUS. It is all wired except of course for the MOST. All I can seem to get is the word PROTECT on the screen. Am I right in thinking this is due to the fact the unit is awaiting a signal on the MOST port which my earlier model does not have? Anyone got round this? I am sure I have heard of this being done before. If not, does anyone want to buy a mint CDR23 with code!!!??? Cheers

POST 2Original post

The CDR23 is 'paired' with the car via the CAN-BUS, without this it will display PROTECT, I believe if the MOST isn't connected with just displays PORSCHE.

POST 3Original post

Firstly I would say that the CDR23 isn't very reliable even when hosted on the correct system :hand: Secondly, I have never seen a solution to this problem until recently and I hesitate to even post this link, but......these guys do seem to understand the problem and they have a heap of + rep, so for what it is worth... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Porsche-Radio...ItemQQimsxZ20081113?IMSfp=TL081113121004r9782

Photo evidence that CDR23 will work when MOST bus is disabled F.Y.I Here are the boys that disabled it (£45 inc postage)

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Pleasure. Forgot to mention, they turned it round within 24 hours, excellent service.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

More info: Not good news for me, I was hoping that the BE6612 series would be compatible with the earlier amp. I know the later car supports MOST but the amplifier socket at the rear is live and identical to the CDR22. All wired in and no sound it turns out you need the compatible amp to go with the BE6612, there are internal differences in the later 02> amp. I have managed to locate a mint CDR22 now so I am giving up on the CDR23 idea. Anyone want to buy an as new CDR23 (series BE6612) fully decoded (even the MOST signal, so this cures the flickering screen fault they normally suffer with) :santa:

POST 9Original post

Hope you never paid more than 50 quid for that cdr22 Lloyd as I just sold mine for that. (BTW I am JamieS2K on the S2000 site)

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I wondered when I'd bump into you. Think I have upset the S2000 forum by purchasing a 996... I call it envy in my book. I won the CDR22 on Ebay for £50 but it also came with the handbook and code key-card all as new... not bad IMO

POST 11Original post

Yes not bad mine was sold with book and code too so good price. The s2000 guys are Porsche haters though , they think the s2000 is the best car ever made and we probably did to we sold it
