Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all Hope you can help. I've started getting a squeak/squeel (hard to describe) coming from the rear of my 54 C4S, can't tell exactly where as I'm in it it at the time, this only happens after the car has been parked up overnight it only lasts for the first 20 seconds or so and only when clutch is engaged but seems to be getting worse. Had the 111 point check and new warranty put in place about 500 miles ago so would have thought they would pick up anything serious, problem is if I take it to OPC the noise will have gone by the time I get there. Any ideas gratefully accepted. Phil ------------------------

POST 2Original post

Is it more noticable after heavy rain. If so it is just a belt slipping and quite normal. You may also notice that the Voltmeter (or whatever it is called) is a bit below where it should be.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Dave No, it happens every morning now irrespective of the weather and it's garaged over night so not getting wet, voltmeter seems fine starts at 12 runs at about 14. Phil

POST 4Original post

I have a squeak too!! Hi Did you get anywhere with this? My C4S has developed the same thing but can't seem to see where it is coming from. It doesn't seem to have any effect and doesn't last for longer than 10-20 secs. Thanks Dean

POST 5Original post

Like Dave says, its probably belt slip when cold. Mines always done this on start up, if its not been used for 4 -5 days in the winter.

POST 6Original post

lol, surprisingly my 54 plate C4s does this as well :floor: Mine does it when pulling away at junctions every now and again, regardless of engine temp. or conditions. I did start a thread on here at the time and was told by a few that it was a common issue but nothing at all to worry about. I have been to the OPC and mentioned it but they cannot find anything wrong and was told to "live with it" so I have. I can work around it by edging away slowly but it can be a bit annoying when in "pose mode" in town :hand:

POST 8Original post

That's what you said last time as well :santa:

POST 9Original post

There is always a danger of becoming repetitive when trying to be a smart ass! IMO Porsche seem to have more than than their fair share of squeaks, groans etc ... I've learnt to live with them by either turning up the music or winding down the window, the tyre noise alone seems to drown out most things (including the backseat driver)

POST 10Original post

Thats no joke I ve had a car where a mouse had ate the wirring loom on a boxster and another where one had ate the pollen filter on a 996

POST 11Original post

A good reason for not keeping them locked up in a garage TB
