I really didn't want to post any photos of mine until I installed my coilovers but hey, what the heck.

Suggestion
If there is going to be very little contrast between your car and the vinyl color such as matte black vinyl on a black car (like mine), I would suggest marking on the backing paper with a marker such as a check where the actual vinyl is.

My car is red and I'm thinking that I would like the flat black graphics that run along the bottom of the door just to break up some of the "redness".

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've seen stripes on Porsches and I think it looks cool
what color and type of stripes would match a white
porsche
?
any pictures and recommendations would b great !
It always looks good if you match the stripes to your wheels. On a factory white car I would go with Silver or matte black depending if you want contrast or subtle. If you plan to add in a color theme, stripes are a good place to start. Color choice is personal preference, and it just vinyl, you could always change it up down the line if you wanted.

Thanks Michael, I'm glad you are happy with the stripes!
Here's some photos of an install I did today. (Thanks Ricky, I know you are on here somewhere)
Prodgers: No worries, I'll mail you some wet application graphics. You can apply them in the rain! :hilarious:
finally got around to putting some video together:
Kyle, beautiful job! You make it look so easy.
But here's the problem . . . You're on the west coast and I'm on the east coast.
So tell me, if I bought some of the
Porsche
graphics (maybe something that you have or something that
Suncoast
sells) could a competent graphics person apply them? For example, there is a company in town that can cover a whole panel truck with advertising graphics. They do a very good job. Could they apply the
Porsche
graphics? Could I apply the graphics? (I used to build model airplanes.

Just added the racing stripes from KI Studios. The guys at Concours in San Antonio did a great job! What do you think?

Looking great so far !!
I really like the Gold
never thought I would but it looks fantastic !
Please post a pic after you get the wheels on you car ,I have the same color car and its really hard to do something with the black Cayman without it looking overkill ....you going to get some Clear side markers soon ?
I love everything about it except for the "CS" in the script.
Unfortunately though, my black side vents would make this a non-starter for me. Think it looks great with body-colored vents.
If you guys are interested in the black and gold theme, I posted a few pix under Spec Racing section under "CSR 6"...finally put the gold
OZ
's on with Kyle's GT3RS stripes in gold. The shade looks like a better match in the pictures than it really is but after the wheels get a little track and brake dust on them, they should look fine
Very cool Mo,
I was just checking those out. Did you decide to skip the csr fender decals?
I'm looking forward to seeing some photos of that mean machine on the track!
Hey guys, these stripes are awesome! I'd highly recommend them. Kyle is one awesome guy and is great to do business with.
My install went fairly well. I should really stress that his videos were a HUGE help as well with the online written instructions. For being a person that has never done any vinyl work before but is rather handy and crafty, I think I did a fairly good job. However, there were some mishaps here and there that resulted in sub professional quality work, that I am not too proud of (It should be noted that I have slight OCD). It was a very interesting process in all, learning as I went. Towards the end, I began to get the hang of it and found what worked best.
I made some videos of me doing the install but they are pretty crappy to be honest and wouldn't help anyone learn how to do their own vinyls. The only thing that they would offer is to show that nearly anyone with patience and an eye for detail can do this.
If you are on the fence about getting these and doing the install yourself I would do it if:
1. You have an eye for detail
2. Have time (took me 4 hours to do- but it was my first time and I'm no pro like Kyle who can do this blindfolded haha)
3. Have patience
Some tips for those looking to do the install:
1. Make sure your car surface is clean, clean, clean. Any surface contamination can cause bubbling or lead to wrinkles.
2. Use plenty of liquid - I used a drop of soap in my solution so i could move the vinyls around a little to correct teeny tiny mistakes
3. Have a heat gun to speed up the drying process or a hair dryer
4. Make sure the liquid under the vinyl is dry before you remove the film paper or else the vinyls will move or peel up.
5. Work the bubbles out or pop tiny ones with a pin
6. Double check your work before you apply the liquid to make sure everything looks visually sound.
7. Use a tape measure to measure the distance of the vinyl to the bottom of the door gap to ensure that the vinyl looks level. Kyle doesn't do this in his
Cayman
video above, but he's a pro and has been doing this hundreds of times.
8. If there is going to be very little contrast between your car and the vinyl color such as matte black vinyl on a black car (like mine), I would suggest marking on the backing paper with a marker such as a check where the actual vinyl is. I'd do this so that you know where to really run your smoothing blade over. There were times when I didn't know where the car was or the vinyl.
9.
DO NOT GET THE BACKING PAPER WET!!!
I did this on my left side by accident and it was a PITA to fix. You have to peel/ scape off wet soggy paper that is like glued on to the surface of the vinyl. not fun at all
Overall the biggest suggestion I can make regarding this vinyl stuff is to:
make sure the bottom of the vinyl is perpendicular to the gap below the door!!!
if you don't do this, it will look really bad and unprofessional. Unless you want some kind of sloping effect look from the front bumper to the rear.
Note in the photo below... (I really hate to point out flaws on other people's cars, makes me feel like a total A-hole. So I'm sorry if this offends the owner of this car or anyone else, but I'm doing this to help people who are thinking about doing this themselves so they know what to pay close attention to). See how the small part of the vinyl on the front right quarter panel after the word "Porsche" just drops down and is not in line with the rest of the vinyl? The main vinyl appears to be consistent in hight above that door trim gap, but then that little part just drops below it and is inconsistent with the overall line.To me, personally, this looks bad. However, perhaps the owner wanted it to look this way, so I could be completely off and I apologize.
I am slightly guilty of doing this too on my vinyl install. So I just want to make sure future home installers don't make this mistake.
And be sure to take advantage of the 20% discount! You're going to love the vinyls. I especially like mine for it provides a more track look yet is subtle at the same time.
I really didn't want to post any photos of mine until I installed my coilovers but hey, what the heck. I also need to take better photos showing off the windshield!

Some more:
I wanted a slightly slanted line from the rear to the front, this is why there is the slightest slant on my middle portion graphic. If I had to do it again, I think I would have just kept it parallel to the bottom door gap line.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about the install, feel free to ask.
Thanks again Kyle for being patient with me and offering such a fantastic product!
I believe that this is by design. Notice that they space in the upper half of the letter "H" doesn't have an color behind it either.
I feel as though I saw this design element on anther car or rendering as well.
You are right, the design of the stripe has a taper on the top, but the bottom is straight to fit the body line.
Little tip / factoid. The only line on almost every vehicle that is straight for measuring is the bottom of the door. Same goes for your track numbers, If you want them to be straight, measure from the bottom of the door, up.
