Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I need information on how to remove the cigarette lighter from the central tunnel in order to paint this one. I follow the article and the tunnel went off simply, but i'm not able to remove the cigarette lighter and the 12V socket. Can anyone help me? Thanks

POST 2Original post

I've never looked at how the socket attaches but if you have the center console out of the car it should be pretty easy to see just how it attaches I would think. I recall moving the assembly over from my original console to my painted one, I just don't recall the details of how anything attached. What seems to be the hold up?

POST 3Original post

On the back of the lighter there are two plastic tabs to push, but they don't move even doing a lot of strength... No other idea?

POST 4Original post

Mask it off when painting instead? Call Eric at bumper plugs on Monday and ask!

POST 5Original post

My last possibility was to mask it, but...... I'VE DONE IT!!! So you have to press two small pieces of plastic in two holes in the metal frame of the lighter (from inside it) and get it out from the front. They are very HARD to press. Then you press the two tabs in the plastic ring around the cigarette lighter and you get out too. However thanks of the help!

POST 6Original post

I needed to replace my lighter assembly. I found this and was able to get the old assembly out. There was enough slack in the wiring to access the connector. New one snapped right in. Thanks!
