Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have to say that i absolutely love my 996 (99) 3.4....but that the service costs are starting to drive me insane. Only changed the gearbox 3 months ago, new set of oxygen sensors 5 months ago, new water pump 12 months ago, new radiator etc. etc. (dont even get me started on the general electrics and the appalling navi) and oil is leaking from gearbox already And now that dreaded "check engine" light has come up again...but this time its supposedly the manifold (that is what has apparently been hurting the oxygen sensors)....the cost is too eyewatering to publish. The car has always been taken for regular service and only has about 60k miles on the clock (not too bad for a car that is almost 10 years old). Is anyone experiencing the same frustration or am i just one unlucky sod?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Things have changed again, apparently its the VarioCam

POST 4Original post

Can you tell me any more - might be able to help you. Any running symptoms? What fault code did the garage say was stored?

POST 5Original post

dont worry kay...ive had mine about three months and have had to have the coolant tank replaced (cracked) £400 odd, a new radiator and inner ball joint and steering rack £1600 odd and now the oxygen sensors need replacing!! oh and while it was there having the oxygen sensors investigated, i discovered with the mechanic that the rms is leaking!! thats not mentioning the stereo install (optional) insurance etc etc and every time i look at the classifed ads on pistonheads.com their going down about a grand a weak...anyway...nevermind..they are lovely when driving right...damn! dont tvr owners keep saying that..lol
